Ok... World Showcase isnt that bad.. but it can be a sleeper sometimes. It has much potential.. here's what I think would be cool....

Great Britain/London/UK.. whatever: A dark ride themed to the Great Mouse Detective, where you can journey around in small cars and help solve the puzzle of a strange happening on the London streets.

France: Something is already there... so no biggie if nothing is there, and I cant think of anything for it.

Morocco: Something Aladdin themed!! Possibly that 3D type show like Tokyo Disney Sea or the broadway style show from DCA!

Japan: Mulan? Maybe a walk-through attraction or something... also, Mulan was made at the Florida studios so they might do something with that..

Italy: Hercules.. hercules.... maybe... eh.. bad idea, lol.

Germany: Hmm.. I know alot of classic Disney stories were based in Germany, right? Wasn't Pinochio based in Germany? Or was it Italy?

Mexico: Omg.. anything but El Rio De Tiempo!!

All the rest have some sort of attraction.. they should also consider adding trees!! They dont need anymore shops or restaruants.. they have plenty of them already.

First of all, just to set the record straight, Mulan is Chinese, not Japanes, Pinocchio was Italian not German, and Hercules was Greek, not Italian.

As for you ideas... hmmm... I love the Disney characters and character-themed attractions, but I just don't thin World Showcase is the place for them. WS is supose to be more realistic than MK or MGM so it would be somewhat odd to just have a Great Mouse Detective ride in the middle of the UK or any of the other plans you mentioned.

Good ideas!

However, for me, I prefer World Showcase as it is, with minimal rides, more of a cultural event. I enjoy just meandering through whilst eating and touring the globe.

Maybe rides would be okay, as you say, but I don't want "Disney themed" rides. Maelstrom and Rio Tiempo are good because they are their cultures. But I don't want to see the countries become too Disney-fied!!

I also don't feel the characters should be brought into world showcase as permanent attractions. I think meet-and-greets are okay, but that is where the line should be drawn. What world showcase needs is some thrill rides. I know that isn't the solution for everything, but it would get people back. Some countries in Epcot, like Italy, don't have any attractions. They should think some up. Maybe they could borrow some ideas from Westcot. I think I remember there was a roller coaster planned for the China area there. Use those ideas in the Florida park!

There really isn't a ton of space behind most of the countries to make large additions to the buildings, for new attractions. Although, Germany and Japan do have room in their existing buildings for attractions.

I'd love to see Mt. Fuji added to Japan, and Germany has that huge show building that was erected fro their Rhine River Cruise, something could go in there. Other than that, WS NEEDS a parade of some kind. How about the ImagiNations parade from Disneyland Paris. That idea would be a great fit for the WS.

I believe that World Showcase needs to concentrate more on an accurate portrayal of its cultures and maybe add one new experience (maybe an e-ticket or something as small as a dark ride). In regards to Mouse Detective, that is an interesting idea, however, there is not enough face value with that idea to warrant a new attraction in UK. What I would suggest to make World Showcase better is more themed entertainment in relation to the cultures.

I wish there was something more to do in World Showcase. The first couple of times we went to Florida, we spent a day in Future World, and a day in World Showcase because there was so much to do and see.

Now, we just do Future World, Mexico, and Norway in one day, because we feel we have seen the rest of WS. There is not enough return value there for me.

First all of the countries that don't have a show/attraction should definitely get one. The countries like Germany/Japan that have enough room should get an attraction/ride while countries such as Italy, Morocco, etc. could add a movie about their nation similar to France. However, these movies/rides should be like those already existing there (at least in theme). They should be based upon the countries physical and cultural aspects not Disney characters. The Disney characters are like those that you used to see outside the pavillions in country specific costumes and that's it.

In addition and more importantly, they need to bring in 3 new countries---Spain, Russia, and Australia! These would give a new exciting lift to World Showcase. Each new country/pavillion could open on their country's birthday!

I love the idea of adding a few new countries and I would agree with the ones you stated. However I think Australia may be a little difficult. It seems that the countries that have been chosen and the other 2 you suggest have a distinct architecture. How would they do Australia without a lot of space? Isn't Australia in AK? Russia could visually be very impressive and they could had an e ticket based off of Rasputin or Siberia. Spain again would be visually impressive and 360 movie with the running of the bulls couls be fun and exciting. How about some other options: Egypt (a large pyramid in the middle of the area and a mummy themed thrill ride) Ireland (with a small village of irish cottages to walk through and a family friendly ride chasing a leprechaun over the rainbow) India (Taj Mahal and 360 movie). I would also consider a South America country but need some suggestions for the attraction.

Personally, I think WS should remain a cultural, reaslistic type affair. Adding attractions based on disney characters might be too much. That would be an issue for the magic kingdom, or something along those lines. I like to think of WS as a place to escape the excessive pressures of mickey, minnie, movie characters, etc. It has a more 'mature' feel if I could use that term...and I like it that way!!!!:) :) :)

Many of these ideas make me want to gag. Most "thrill" ride ideas would not be a good fit for the area (though it's certainly not impossible). There are already enough "movies" in the WS between Canada, China, and France -- we do not need more.

More dark rides like Maelstrom, however, would definitely be beneficial. Another good idea would be a live artistic performance of some kind in a new theater in a country or two.

you all are missing the two most important criteria for considering a country for epcot, beer and food. Spain would be OK, but Russia? Borst and vodka? I don't think so. Egypt? No thank you. Australia? Shrimp on a barbie and fosters? Please. Better suited for animal kingdom if you ask me. Belgium and Thailand are the most needed countries, imho. Spain, Greece, and India round out the top 5 for me.

i used to talk to an illuminations manager late at nights while i would wait for the bridge to go down so i could go home (while they put the illuminations barges backstage). anyway, he said that it is his understanding that they are working on a big really nice original parade, which won't be done for a couple years. possably for epcots annivesary celebration. lets hope it happens.

What kind of food and beer does Belgium and Thailand have?

I remember hearing a rumor about 13 years ago that they were considering adding USSR and Switzerland. But these plans were then cancelled after the Soviet Union broke up. I don't know how true the rumor was though.

From the library, I borrowed a book about Epcot that was published before it opened (around early 1982). In it, it described the original countries in WS, leaving out later additions like Norway and Morocco. But it told of a country based on Equitorial Africa. However this never developed further than the Outpost. I would imagine all plans for an African country in WS disappeared after AK began to be planned.

Some countries could definitely use some sort of attraction or show. Even though you don't want to have too many movies, Italy definitely could use a movie. I may be biased because I'm Italian-American, but Italy is too beautiful a country not to have a movie.

I think it would be neat to see a number of new countries, without replacing the current countries of course. However, the biggest problem is where to put these countries. There is the spot where the Outpost is, but I can't think of any other practical spots for a new country. Does anyone have any other ideas of where new countries could be put?
