My voting mess

Just thought I'd share this, as I found it absolutely ridiculous, and sad.

I went to Location A at 6:45 this morning to be in line to vote. I was at the exact place I was told to be. When I gave my address I was informed I had to go to Location B down the street. So, I went. I got there, waited in line for 15 minutes, gave my address and was told I was in the wrong place and had to go to Location C, which was halfway across town. So, I fight traffic and get there, wait in line for 10 minutes, give my address, and am told I need to go to Location A. I explained what I've already gone through, and the Warden makes some calls and insists I can only vote in Location A. So, I go back to Location A. They remember me, look into it, make a couple of phone calls and tell me I need to go to Location C. I tell them either I vote here or I don't vote. They finally just end up taking my vote and have it sealed in an envelope where it's to be delivered to Location C. Needless to say, I probably wasted 90 minutes this morning on nothing, as that envelope will probably end up in the trash.

That's horrible. Glad you at least got to vote. I live in a small town, so there is only one voting location here, so I don't have to worry about a mess like that

My DD attends University of Illinois, in Champaign Urbana IL, central IL, heavily republican farmland.
The students who live in apartments can register to vote in Champaign, unlike the dormed students. A good chunk of this liberal University would likely vote democrat in this republican county and many of the locals are not amused. Today, the vast majority of students going to cast their votes this morning were turned away by the election judges saying they were not legally registered. By 7am there were so many complaints filed by students for intimidation and interfering with voting the board of elections had to send officials out to watch over the judges.

One student was so upset in my DDs 930 am class that he wasn't allowed to vote and had a voters registration card that the professor released class early and escorted any student wanting to vote to the polls to insure the students would be given a ballot.

At my polling place this morning the paper ballot counter was broken and not feeding in ballots. You could wait or just leave your ballot with judge. Right#@$

In my sisters polling place in Ohio, electronic computer voting, you could only vote for the republican presidential choice, it would not accept the click for democrat, it bounced back to republican.

No matter what side of the coin you land, this is certainly an interesting day in the good ole USA.

And were those students actually registered to vote in Champaign? Not likely.. so many people get upset over voting because they don't pay attention to what is required to vote.

The good news is in todays world we have so many choices for people to lookup where they are registered to vote and their polling locations. When you had to rely on voting cards and phone lookups, it was more difficult. The worst was in the storm area, but I'm glad the Governor made a good decision (IMO) to suspend requirements about specific polling stations. That may lead to all kinds of fraud still, but I'm not sure how they are planning on preventing that (only allowing you to vote once).

Whoooooa! That seriously sucks!

I was an early, absentee voter since I dont live in my area any more! I got a nifty little email telling me they thank me for my vote and it's been counted!

I am so excited about the election tonight! Can't wait to hear the results and ALL of this be OVER!

NYC polls were packed this morning. My polling station was unorganized and slightly chaotic. We were told that not all staff reported to work so they were understaffed. After my ballot was inserted into the machine by a staff member I asked if there was anyway to check and see if the info was entered correctly. The staffer said that many people were asking the same question and that no one usually asks.
She said it would be a good idea if in the future if you could get a receipt. Sorry if there are any typos. I'm drunk.

You should file a complaint with your Secretary of State and or Probate Office. There is no excuse for such ineptness.
