My vacation in a nutshell

So, its my first day back at work after 8 days at Disney World.
We had a few days in the 80 degree range, way better than living in the frozen wasteland of Cleveland. I got engaged at the Wreck it Ralph meet and greet. I saw the rope drop ceremony at Magic Kingdom for the first time. Had my first Dole Whip. I maxed out the score on Buzz Lightyear. Had the best pizza I've ever tasted in my life at Via Napoli. I got to watch my daughter walk around with my fiance and show her everything since it was her first ever trip to Disney. And way, way more that I could even have time to post.
And as a grown man, at 31 years old, the last night I was down there, I turned around, looked at that castle, and squeezed my little family so tight and actually started to cry. It was without a doubt the greatest week of my life, and to anyone that says that the magic isnt real or that that place isn't as good as it once was, I say to you... You're wrong. Beyond wrong. That magic is still there, you just have to believe it, and you'll find it again. :)

That's wonderful. So glad everything on you trip worked out. I too cry every time we leave MK for the last time on a trip. Then again, I cry when I get there too.

Thanks guys!! :) it was just such a build up of awesomeness that took over on Saturday. I even forgot to mention the fact that a cast member took us all on a tour of Hollywood Studios after the proposal on Monday. But in those last moments on Saturday when I replayed the whole week in my head, I knew that there will never be another trip to Disney that will be able to stack up to how this past week was for me, and seeing that castle lit up the way it was, was just too emotional to hold back the tears.

First off, congrats on the engagement!

Second, did you say grown at 31? At 38, Im still waiting to grow up. And by going to WDW every once in a while, I think you may never become "a grown up"... just sayin

Congrats on the awesome trip OP. I had a similar experience when I watched our kids walk down MS USA with my folks for the first time. You cant fabricate those sorts of moments.

I always say, you get out of life what you put in. This too applies at WDW. Life is almost exclusively based upon perspective.

So many of us seem to become jaded and/or nostalgic that the current magic is lost. Even the Garden of Eden wrought dissension after a while. Beware of the serpents on these boards (including me from time to time).

First, welcome back to our little 'frozen wasteland' in CLE. Congrats on the engagement and NEVER lose that feeling you had. I'm 56 and still feel that way when we go down. I have two adult kids and a granddaughter now. She's going this summer along with the whole family. I know I'll be a weeping mess at some point (and it's not because of Magic Bands and MDE).

Well, now, to be fair, in many cultures, serpents are givers of knowledge and wisdom.

Serpents are often a symbol of rebirth as well because they shed their skin. In Exodus, Moses held up a snake that healed the Israelites. That's why snakes are part of the medical insignia that accompanies the Hippocratic oath.

Yet, most of the time, a snake is not a complimentary metaphor.

And if there's one place a grown man can cry without one ounce of shame, it's the House of the Mouse.
Or at the sports pub, depending on how horrifically your team is getting clobbered.

To the OP, congrats on your engagement. This 33 year old man has gotten emotional at WDW a time or two. No shame in that. Glad you had a fun vacation with such fond memories.

In all seriousness, I had ZERO complaints about MDE or the bands. Other than the app taking longer to load than I would like, it was completely smooth sailing with the new program. I would have no issues with being able to do it again.

In Western culture, yes. However, Quetzalcoatl was a serpent, and he was by all accounts a pretty cool guy, as far as Aztec deities go.
