my trip report 9/29-10/3

I'll say i had a very good time. Went to halloween party two nights, did 3 parks in 2 days. Most cm's were very friendly, wait times were VERY SHORT, weather was great. Room at all star music was ncie, very quiet, even had some little rabbits out hopping around early am or late at night. It has been 3 years since i did the halloween party, it was great. characters were incredible, only bad line was snow white & 7 dwarfs... as soon as they came out they had a line cut off until their next set. Only problem i had was with monorails, wow leaving epcot there was a new pilot going sooooooooooooooooooo slow, i waited longer on the monorail than anyting except the epcot bus. then i rode purple thursday. wow it is horrible, someone needs 2 shoot it & get it over with. The carpet is peeling up in the car i was in, looked almost like mold on the carpeting below the window, the plastic along the doors was popping loose. red wasnt much better, the pilots seat looked like it had blown up & had a new cover thrown on it. the only real problems i had was one day on the monorail the pilot would speed up one of the hills then when the computer told him he was speeding he would slow down really fast or "pull back the stick", more or less slamming on the breaks. this almost caused some kids in my car to fall over as they werent holding the safety bars. when i spoke to a monorail manager he told me i dont know how that happend... "its all automated, the driver has no control over the speed".... the other thing was one of the restrooms in one of the monorail resorts. it looked like someone had blown their nose on the wall in one of the stalls, i went back the next day the same mess was still there. i'm sure a little water & a clean towel it would have come right off. i wish i had some pix, but my camera went on vacation also. :hammer:

Glad you had a (mostly) good time.

Only problem i had was with monorails, wow leaving epcot there was a new pilot going sooooooooooooooooooo slow.

There may have been a (safety?) reason it was going slowly. I would have thought that even a new pilot would get to normal speed quickly and only really have trouble at the stations

then i rode purple thursday. wow it is horrible, someone needs 2 shoot it & get it over with. The carpet is peeling up in the car i was in, looked almost like mold on the carpeting below the window, the plastic along the doors was popping loose. red wasnt much better, the pilots seat looked like it had blown up & had a new cover thrown on it.

I noticed that they were getting a little tatty on my last visit but not to that extent. I've always thought that for the amount of usage they get, they are pretty clean. I've seen much worse on public trains etc.

the only real problems i had was one day on the monorail the pilot would speed up one of the hills then when the computer told him he was speeding he would slow down really fast or "pull back the stick", more or less slamming on the breaks. this almost caused some kids in my car to fall over as they werent holding the safety bars.

The pilot shouldn't have been so agressive with the breaks but kids (and adults) really should be holding on to the handrails. There are warnings and whilst it is a fancy way of travelling, it's still a vehicle and even a small change of speed can make you wobble. You would always hold on to the handrails on a bus...

A lot of time, when there is 'traffic' up ahead they will slow or stop until it is clear, then slowly move forward. We've had this happen while riding it...Ok, bring on the trip report....

i dont think he was stopping due to traffic. as anyone familiar with monorails can tell you they have "speed limits". the train knows how fast it should be going in each spot on the beam, when u go over that speed it beeeeeeeeeeeeeeps & tells u, slow down fool. this man did that on 3 different times during one trip, it wasnt due to traffic, since we never really came to a complete stop for more than a moment, just long enough to slow down & go under the speed limit then we went on the way to the next stop. as for the comment on the restroom, it was at one of the resorts, with a convention area that was NOT being used during the trip but has a piano with a nice view near it. i went there to relax for a bit two days.

You'll be happy to know that all the monorails are getting paint jobs and (I assume) interior cleanups. I don't know if they have done Purple yet though...
