Hi all!
I got back Sunday (6/9) from my latest trip to WDW! It was mostly all great! I'll start off with the un-magical experience then on to the fun stuff..
I took the train down from NYC to Orlando (sleeper room). That was fun, it was my first time doing that (although expensive with a sleeper!)
I went with a friend of mine and we stayed at the Coronado Springs resort. That was my first time staying at a moderate resort. The place is HUGE! I had a rental car, so I didn't care where I stayed in the resort, but I can see how walking from the other end of the resort to the lobby/store/food can take a lot of time!
Anyhoo.. the 2nd day, I get back to my room around 4pm and the door is not closed. It's SLIGHTLY open - housekeeping did not close it all the way. Luckily everything was there.
The next night, it seems the people in the next room are watching the Lakers game and SCREAMING AND YELLING at the TV. I don't believe it was guests as listening to them talking it SOUNDED like they may have been employees!! The door wasnt closed (the latch was open, which stops the door from closing.. I guess so they could come and go as they please). I went down the food court (pepper market thingy). Got back to my room with my friend - next door still yelling. He realizes they put chicken in his calzone (he asked for cheese only). He went back down and let them know. They gave him a new pizza and told him the manager would refund the money for the mistake. He had to wait on line (which was LONG - 5 mins at least to wait). He got to the front and the guy said he couldnt do that and to go on the other line where the manager was. So he had to wait AGAIN. When he got to the manager he was EXTREMELY rude. Acting like he was lying and humiliating him in front of the other guests. It was awful. That tore the magic right out of the resort for us. We went to the front desk and got a manager and complained about all of the above. The noise stopped in the room, and the next day there was a fruit basket from the general manager of the pepper market (and a phone call from her the next day). That was nice, but my friend was too shook up to eat in that place again. It really messed up the magic for the next day.
Ok.. that's the bad. Everyone else we dealt with was pleasant and very nice. Magic Kingdom was PACKED (went on 6/1) - but the lines weren't that awful. COP was closed. I was so sad. We talked to a CM about the college program she was on. She was very nice. Went to Animal Kingdom on 6/3. I love that park. I love animals and seeing animals I don't see here in the US/NJ is a great thrill for me. I also went to the Universal parks, but I wont go into those here other than to say I had a lot of fun there too. MGM was fun. Crowded too, but the lines were not bad. It was my first time on Rock and Roller Coaster! That was FUN! Too short, but it was a blast! The first time, not knowing what to expect was scary.
Epcot was the least crowded. American adventure had hardly anyone in it and the maelstrom had almost no wait. Body wars was EMPTY. Walked right up without ANYONE waiting in line. As a matter of fact, the whole Wonders of Life was almost empty. I went on Spaceship earth 3 times!
woo!
I bought a couple of the Magical Moment pins. I wish I got them on the first day. It was neat seeing them light up. One did on Tower of Terror and lit up half the elevator! hehehe
It looked like they fixed up the Haunted Mansion a little (The talking woman's head looked different somehow.
I also bought the flashing button/pin/necklace things. One with figment and one with Mickey Mouse. I like the Mickey Mouse one the best, and a lot of people complimented me on it!
I tried out the new Journey into Imagination. I liked the old one better. It seemed kind of bland and void of ..well.. imagination. Watching figment sing a song and bounce on words was lame, in my opinion.
One other thing.. SMOKERS. People were smoking wherever they wanted. I'm VERY sensitive to it and it got on my nerves a few times (it gives me an instant headache if I'm around it for more than a few minutes).
Overall I had a great time! I did *NOT* want to leave!!!
I'm sure I left out a lot of things, but I'm at work now and keep getting interrupted! (how dare they ask me to do work!)
