My problem with Imagineering.......

So I've been on this forum for less than a year now and I admit that it's been nice to get my ideas out somewhere. However, I've been facing a problem. Ever since I finished my original draft of Disneytopia, I haven't been able to post any new projects that excite me as much. I am able to start them, but I can't finish them. Even with my second and third drafts of Disneytopia, I've been unable to finish them. There could be many reasons for this. One reason is that I'm kind of a perfectionist (I'm not proud of it) and sometimes I feel like every new project has to top the previous one, even though I know that's not the case. Another reason is that I have a love-hate relationship with the first Disneytopia draft. Despite its imperfections and lots of bumps, it has a special place in my heart because it's both the first Disney resort I ever designed and the one the longest, starting its development when I was eleven and continuing it for more than six years. A third reason may be because I'm autistic and have a bad habit of taking inspiration from others when I can't find it myself.

So the question is "What do I do to just enjoy making parks again?" From this forum, I have learned what people like and don't like about the parks, yet the constant and unnecessary pressure of trying to please everyone is overwhelming. No offense to anyone out there, but it's because certain things I've read on this website that make me question Disneytopia. Again, no offense, but I thought I would make that clear.

P.S. My Mom and sister are in Disneyland right now for a school thing. Just thought I'd point that out.

There isn’t really anything you can do to force you to enjoy making parks again - you just need to wait until inspiration strikes. And don’t force yourself. Write if you want to and take a break if you’re not in the mood. If you want to ease yourself back into it I’d suggest working on a smaller project - an attraction, or a restaurant. Maybe even a land if you’re feeling ambitious. I totally sympathize with getting caught up in perfectionism. It’s just something you need to try to work past. I get caught up in the details and trying to make ideas work from every angle, but eventually you just need to force yourself to move on an focus on the bigger picture.

Most importantly, write for yourself. People are going to give feedback, especially if you ask for it, and it’s good to take it into account, but at the end of the day you’re writing for yourself and you can’t please everybody.

I've been posting back-to-back a lot, which is really no fun when no one else responds, especially if your post includes images or videos, as I've tried to do whenever possible. I've tried asking for feedback, but no one ever does. This is just me, but it's really no fun when you're only posting back-to-back. It's like talking to yourself when you don't want to.

I wish I could find another place to do these kinds of projects besides just here, but there doesn't seem to be any place. I've tried to post on Reddit and Facebook, both of which do have spaces for this kind of thing, but the problem is that there's not a lot of demand for this sort of thing. Reddit does have a spot to put these things, but no one has ever been there in years. As for Facebook, I've tried to find dedicated spaces for this, and while one does exist, it's kind of a private page, which requires a membership. I've tried to access it, but it's been about a year now, and it's still pending! There are only five members!

So really, I don't know any place else to do it.

Before I say anything, I want to applaud your bravery and imagination, being able to share a project you started at 11 years old. The amount of dedication you put into the project is amazing, just like the project itself.

One reason new park ideas aren't excitable is that they use the same formula, the hub-and-spoke, which is tried and tested success. But it is not the only formula. If you want a new park that you will absolutely love, step out and make a new formula of success. Instead of making new resorts where each one will have a differently named park and similar lands, try expanding a current park instead. For example, a third park to Disneyland or Disneyland Paris, where anything is possible. Another importance of a good project is realism, something believable, but exotic and new. Make it special for all, and it will be special for you.

That's what I like to do. It's always a lot easier to add to preexisting parks than to create new ones from scratch. Although, it can be difficult if you're going to be working within preexisting boundaries, as I always try to do.
