Hey guys!

So I thought I'd give a shot at doing another makeover to Fantasyland at Disneyland. Try to give it more of a story-base. Make better transitions into different areas, just the works.

I may go a bit crazy with things though, artist in me :D

Anyways, I've divided Fantasyland into 4 Areas of Focus: Original Fantasyland, Matterhorn Area, It's a Small World Area, and a new area where it transitions from forest to english park.

Not much details tonight. Just a rough overview. I'll probably have a overview tomorrow.

Opinions are welcome!

The Castle and Village (Original Fantasyland)

So, I took inspiration from the 1983 Fantasyland refurb. All the buildings in this area really reflect the attraction that's in the space. So, I thought, why not build a story around it?

The Story really gets down to there's this village, and each establishment in this village has it's own story and different interests, but it all ties together in this Storybook Village.

For example, Snow Whites Scary Adventures is the home to the town's witch. Once you go through the queue, you start to see different potions and books on witchcraft. Then you start seeing books and spells that you'd see from the Movie Snow White. Leading into the ride. (Not very specific right now, but I'll go in depth later once I get into the dark rides.)

So, I have a nice little map here for the re-do of this area.

So you can kind of see what I'm doing, here's some direction for the map.

1. Sleeping Beauty Castle
2. Snow White's Scary Adventures
3. Pinocchio's Daring Journey
4. Dining Option (Unknown)
5. Peter Pan's Flight
6. Mr. Toads Wild Ride
7. King Aurthur Carrousel
8. Gates to the Mysterious Gardens
9. Gift Shop
10. Rose Garden
11. Beauty and the Beast Dark Ride (Don't worry! I moved Alice and the Teacups!)
12. Snow White Grotto
13. Fantasy Faire

1. Sleeping Beauty Castle.

So, I wanted to make this Castle a big statement, without getting rid of the old one. So, I decided to work with building "Layers" of the castle, and make it bigger inside. This means getting rid of the (I believe) merchandise areas you see when you walk through the castle for space.

(I'm probably going to keep editing this design, just because it's such a big, important icon.)

This castle will be home to the Bibbidi Bobbiti Boutique(1b), The Sleeping Beauty Walkthrough (1a), and a 3D movie (1c).

The Village (Part 1)

So, the idea it to make the queues into almost pre shows, and stories to work into the area itself.

In each ride queue, they'll be a "Magic Portal" where you can see what the owner of that establishment is doing. Kind of a mix of the new queue enhancements in Big Thunder Mountain at the Magic Kingdom and Sorcerer's of the Magic Kingdom.

Not really a "battle game" but more of a "experience more of the story" Adding to Disneyland's hidden gems a bit more.

Snow White's Scary Adventures

So, small Queue here. I wanted to extend it a little bit. So, the outdoor part will become enclosed.

So, as I said before, you go in, and see many potions and spell books and just, scary witch-y things. (Just you know, so the kids have a warning before they go in)

The idea is to let in a certain time go by or capacity of guest into the queue, and then have technology similar to Enchanted Tales with Belle, were the Magic Mirror takes them to the ride vehicles.

Magicmirror.jpg

"Magic, Mirror on the wall, how did the Queen of the Kingdom fall?"

"Wicked with Jealousy, and fear of Snow White's rise, led to the Queens fateful demise. I shall help you as a guide, if you wish to live the story, step inside."

If kids get scared at that point, I added a chicken door.

The Loading/Unloading will get a wood-sy feel, to better fit the ride vehicles.

And of course, add the upgraded audio-animetromics and effects to the dark ride itself.

Pinocchio's Daring Journey

This is home to the town's toy shop, lately the owner of the shop, has taken an interest in marionettes, as you can see from his woodworking station. He's been reading books on more marionette's when we start to see Posters of Stormboli's Puppet Theatre coming to town, along with posters of Pinocchio. We start to see that the owner of the shop is pretty excited, crossing out the days on a calendar. Then we see the ride vehicles and go on the ride.

Again, small queue. The idea is to make it interactive. So, I decided to work in "windows". The windows see to more of the "Toy Shop" To make it feel like it's bigger then it actually is.

Some will also be interactive, like the "Posters" in the Town Square Meet and Greets at MK.

When we get closer to the ride, we have big screens where you can "carve" different things into "wood". Just think of a giant Etch A Sketch :D

More Panoramic digital windows help tell the "Stromboli's Puppet Theatre is coming" part of the story.

Then, you get to the ride, again, audio-anametronic updates, effect updates, the works.
