My impressions of the Mummy *spoilers*

I rode it a total of 3 times. I never waiting over 20 minutes to ride it. First time I took the singles and got about a 15 minute wait. Second time as soon as I entered singles, I saw my friends in standby and a CM let me join them so it was about a minute wait for me. 3rd time was 20 because I waited in the normal line.

Walk-through:
Line:
It is nowhere near as good as people were saying it to be. Most of the attraction is large generic rooms with TVs playing about the movie and such. (I know of the curse thing but I didn't see anything in line or hear anything because those rooms were empty) Once actually in what looks like the Egyption place, it still isn'y much detailed. I would say whatthis rides line detail compares with would be less than pirates. There are a couple toys to play with like the NBC machine and the hologram but it is pretty much nothing special. On the room with the staircase going up, there a large statue of Anubis as junk on the floor but that's it in there. The ride already needs to be fixed in some places, someone took a big chunk out of the plaster wall in the single-rider's line.

Ride: I really like how Universal fixed their problems with loading from other rides. On ther Mummy, there are 2 loading stations that work the exact same as Big thunder. But, there are also 2 unloading stations which really helps with the flow. The cars are also nice and big. I believe it was 4 across with either 4 or 5 rows. I forgot. Departing the station the car travels around a crypt. There you turn a corner and see a mummy wearing a hat... Of course, he is supposed to represent a tourest but it does not make much sense that his hat is the only thing not covered. Anyway, he tells you that the curse is real and the mummy (ihematop or whatever) jumps out of a sarcophagus... Your car then picks up speed and you see a symbol on the wall and the walls turn a bright red. In the next room there is a High-def screen with Ihemator's head and he says join me be rich, if not then die. There is lost of gold and stuff but the greatest part is when the mummy soldiers jump out. Basically they are on par with card-board cut outs. But of course they are in 3-dimensions and are made of rubber. But they make absolutly no movements.
The next room has scarabs coming out of the walls and to get the feeling that the scarabs are on you cold water droplets fall on you. The Car emmidiatly goes backwards down a 10 foot drop before stoping. Here you see the mummy again on a screen and as the car slowly turns around, he talks to you about how were going to suffer. Once your done turning, there is a large hill about as steep as the hulks launch. Car car then launches like the Hulk up the large hill. However, there is a difference. On the mummy, the launch starts before you even start up the hill.
At the very top of the hill is the mummy's head and he "swallows" you. The car emmidiatly dives to the right and you see pictures of stuff that seems to be lit by fiber optics. It's above Card-board but it doesn't go much else. The closest ride I would compare the mummy to would be Space Mountain. However, Space Mountain has more air-time than the mummy. But the mummy is 10 mph faster than Space Mountain. Once the coaster section is done, you enter the fake ending. Someone who has common sense and time to think can figure that it is a fake ending. Bit it did get my friends. The ride operator is just a silluete and soon the Mummy jumps out and says that your souls are mine and death is just the begining. The car then goes down a hill and makes a left turn followed by a right turn into the station. There you see that other guy from the mummy and unload in a room that looks very similiar to Mission Space's exit tunnels.

Now I really did like the coaster sections. (if the second one even can be called that) Bit there were flaws. Like how confused I was at the end. The ride also seemed to be very short. Isn't the Mummy's Ride building Larger than Space Mountain's?

Well this is still the best ride at Universal Studios, and I think it is better than the Hulk (but not dueling dragons).

My final rating will be a 8/10. Great ride but not good story telling.

I'm sure it would of scored a few points if you fully understood the story. I could tell you didnt, because the guy with the red hat was Reggie, a production assistant. If Universal had better designed the queue, so that you could actually hear the preshow tv's, you would of understood the story. I, myself, would not even know that, and the only reason I do is because I have read up on it. From what I understand...You enter the museum (the front of the building) and that is the Mummy 3 set...The tv's explain that some of the artifacts for Mummy 3 are cursed, and that is how you find yourself back in 1930's Egypt. If you look really closely once you get in the tomb, you will see signs pointing upstairs (to the loading area) saying that is where the "Trolly system" is located. The trolly system was used for raiding the temple. So you board the trolly, and go through the whole ride. Atleast, that is my understanding of it. There are many plot holes though.

I think you were the only person I know who noticed the thing in the queue that plays the NBC tune lol.

Btw, the part where the Mummy's pop out on each side was the scariest part to me the first time I rode it.

Well I must say that my favorite part of the whole attraction is the preshow video that plays in the first room of the standby queue. The Single Riders and Express people never enter the building. But anyways the preshow video playing in the various rooms you enter and I suggest stoping and letting others pass you in line so you can actually hear the show. It is very funny and it has alot of great plot points.

IMO, Universal doesn't really care if you know the story or not. So there are not alot preshows seen by the majority of guests. You have to want to see them and take your own time to see them. The glass window preshow in the begining of Dueling Dragons' castle is wonderful, but NOBODY ever sees it because the queue never reaches back that far (May God have mercy on anyone who would ever wait in the DD line if it was backed up outside the castle).
