My ideas for a Blizzard Beach expansion

Hi all.

I've always been a big fan of Blizzard Beach, and I bet a lot of others here are as well. Thematically, I think it's one of the most original park concepts
ever created. I also think it's a theme that--while seemingly very limiting on the surface--actually lends itself very easily to new attractions.

So, here is an outline for some new ideas...

New slides:

Blizzard Bowl:

416416

This would be a standard bowl slide, found in a lot of water parks around the world. What makes this one unique is the theming. Similar to how the slide pictured is themed to a witch's cauldron that's overflowing, Blizzard Bowl would have snow and ice all around the rim of the bowl, as well as some melting icicles. Lots of parks have two of these slides to help with capacity, and that could easily be done here, as well. Could also have one body slide paired with a tube slide.

Tundra Terrain Twisters:

416417

This would be similar to Caribbean Corkscrew at Adventure Island. But of course, with the normal snow and ice theming to fit with the rest of Blizzard Beach.

Avalanche Run:

416418

This one is similar to Mammoth at Holiday World. But in keeping with the theme, there would be several added thematic elements including an ice cave, as well as a heli-skiing pad next to the loading station complete w/ a full-size replica helicopter.

Halfpipe:

416419

Themed to a snowboarding terrain park, this one could actually have a number of different elements, not just the wall element pictured here.

Tough Sledding:

416423

Similar to the old Everglides attraction at Adventure Island, but themed to snow sledding. Could also have a junior version of this slide, called Easy Sledding.

Ski Jump:

416424

A pair of body slides themed to a ski jump ramp.

A handful of other slides:

--Black Diamond: with a name inspired by the very steepest type of ski run, this is an imposing speed slide similar to Summit Plummet, but even steeper.

--Fahrenheight Falls: a complex of 4 trap-door slides, all with a similar theme of temperature--Melting Point, Boiling Point, Freezing Point, and Absolute Zero. The entrance features a cleverly themed sign with a large thermometer stuck at -273.15 degrees, which is absolute zero on the Fahrenheit scale.

--Uphill Double Thrill: a reference to Downhill Double Dipper, as well as uphill skiing. This is somewhat similar to DDD, but with a pair of bunny hops, meaning the slides feature a main drop, followed by an uphill section, a second drop, a second uphill section, and then a final drop into the pool.

--Bobsled Run: a long, meandering slide themed to a bobsled track.

--Liquid Luge: a long, meandering slide themed to a luge track.

--Alpine Flyer + Nordic Nailbiter: two mid-sized body slides. The names are a nod to the two main styles of skiing: alpine and Nordic style.

--Giant Slalom: a slide that references a specific variety of alpine skiing, where skiers ski between sets of poles. Could be paired with a junior version for smaller kids called Little Slalom.

--Bunny Hill: a slide that references the gentlest type of ski run, used by novices. This would be another slide for younger kids.

Other attractions:

--Glacier Gulch, a second wave pool, quite a bit larger than Melt-Away Bay.

--Blue Lagoon: a large geothermal spa, similar to the famous Blue Lagoon in Iceland. Has a number of unique elements for a waterpark, including artificial hot springs, geysers, waterfalls, as well as some great features for relaxing, such as Finnish saunas and swim-up bars.

--SnoCross 4D Xperience: a 4D simulator attraction, where guests pretend to pilot their own snowmobiles.

food/beverage options:

--Glacier Grill: burgers, salads, sandwiches.

--Ice Kube, an igloo-style ice bar featuring a number of arctic-themed cocktails.

--Blizzard Brewery: ice cold specialty beers as well as the normal domestic beers.

--Chili on the Rocks: special chili-flavored margaritas

--Go with the Floe: alcoholic milkshake bar

--Sub Zero: various subs/hoagies/breakfast burritos

--Cold Springs Pizza: pizza, pasta, sandwiches

--SnOasis: frozen yogurt and slushies

--Wicked Tuna: themed to an ice-fishing operation, specializes in cold-water seafood dishes: tuna salad, langoustines, salmon dishes, etc.

--Cold Brew Corner: themed Starbucks offering the normal Starbucks menus available at the other Disney parks.

other miscellaneous outlets:

--Base Camp + Latitude 90, themed stores similar to the Beach Haus.

--Slush Funds: a cleverly themed ATM machine, complete with frosted glass + artificial icicles.

And finally, for the last bit, I wanted to try to transform BB into a true luxury experience, just like a luxury ski resort. Replacing the Polar Patios will be two similar but much better options that will be truly worthy of the high price tag.

First up: the mountain huts. These feature both indoor/outdoor areas, including a balcony. They also feature private showers, as well as private Haystack dryers that are common up-charges at a lot of water parks, but offered here for free.

And second: an even more upscale option: the luxury igloos.

416436

Inspired by a number of real-life igloo resorts in Finland, these will have all the features of the mountain huts, but with the addition of a private jacuzzi and private plunge pool. Truly luxurious and relaxing.

So, those are my ideas for a Blizzard Beach expansion.

Hope you enjoyed reading.

Some of the slides in the photos are terrifying. But I love the way you are looking outside the box. I'm sure there are a lot of people that aren't scaredy cats like me and would love it. They could easily be themed to Blizzard Beach as well, especially the halfpipe. It could be like the ones in the Winter Games.
