My First Trip Report 6/20-6/30

Hi everyone! I just got back from the world and boy am I depressed! I know it's a little late, but here we go:
Day 1:
Check-in at the BCV, and they give us a 4th floor pool-view room. Now, we booked this room on the first day allowed and requested top floor with an Epcot view. They tell us, "Well, we have a limited number of one-bedrooms with an Epcot view." So we say fine, we'll take it. We get up there, and it's a handicapped room! That means the big beautiful bathroom you see in the models is not there. It's a walk-in, tiny shower with a hand-held nozzle, one sink that is very low, the bed in the bedroom is on the ground, there is no breakfast bar on the counter, the balcony is standing only, and there is NO jacuzzi!! Needless to say, my father got on the phone and blew a nutty on them. They said there was nothing they could do that night, but they would move us the next day to the 5th (top) floor with an Epcot view. Funny how you get what you want when you yell a little, huh? So we go to the Yachtsman Steakhouse for dinner. It was absolutely fabulous! We requested Oscar as our server and he was wonderful as always. It was just perfect. I have to say though that I was disappointed in the Villas throughout the trip. Even in the second room, the floors were dirty, the room needed a painting, the toaster was broken, some of the kitchen drawers had no handles, and the balcony was crawling with spiders and absolutely filthy. And we got full cleanings the first two days we were there and nothing after that, not even a trash and towel! I still love it there though.

The next day we went to the Magic Kingdom, so I'll put all of my observations about MK here. Philharmagic was awesome!!!! We saw it like five times. Wishes was absolutely unbelievable. WDW outdid itself on this one. The crowds were manageable but definitely more crowded then it has been the past couple of years. I almost called the White House though, because I found the weapons of mass destruction...the double-wide strollers people use to propel themselves through the crowds!! :fork: Sorry, I couldn't resist. Splash Mountain was great. The Brer Rabbit Animatronic wasn't working until the very last time we went on it, which was actually at e-ride on the 28th. I noticed on the second day at the MK that some of the trees around the castle had been taken down, not sure what that was about. Also on our second day, they had the hrose and carriages and cars running down Main St. I can't remember the last time I've seen that! It was beautiful. E-ride seemed to be much more crowded then I remember in the past. We had a 10-minute wait on Peter Pan and Winnie-the-Pooh, and a 25 minute wait for Splash Mountain! The only thing we walked on were Space Mountain and Buzz. Big Thunder broke down, but they didn't open anything else to make up for it. I met a guy from Pop Century and he said one night after Wishes, he had to wait 2 and a half hours for a bus back to the hotel! I think that's about it for MK...next up, MGM!

Edit: How could I forget the Carousel of Progress! We rode it 8 times!!!! The good news is, every time I walked by it, there was a line to get in it, which made me very happy. I noticed some new details, not sure if they're new or if I just never noticed before. But in the first scene there's a dozen roses, a gift and a card that says "Sarah" on it for Valentine's Day on the table. Anyone remember this from before?

OK, MGM is absolutely my favorite park and it didn't disappoint me this time. I do hate that hat though. We did two full days here which was great. As an aside, I hate having to take the SLLOOOWWW boat over there from the Beach Club. Other than that, transportation was great. We never waited more than 5 minutes for a bus or boat. OK, nack to MGM. ToT...just awesome! Simply my favorite ride. Rode it six times, and the last time was easily the best. I love it when it goes up first. That's when you know you're in for a good ride. Rockin' was great, rode it twice, but I like the element of surprise in Tower. Great Movie Ride was great as usual. We had a great host. The Backlot Tour is now awful. I know that they trashed all the houses which makes me mad, but what did they do with Walt's plane?? If they trashed that, I will raise a ruckus!!! The Stunt Show set looks good. The city scene looks just sbout done, with the big screen TV in the middle. The skeleton for the bleachers is up but no seats yet. We did Millionaire twice, and we ended up in the same seats both times, which we thought might be lucky. Sure enough, the first fastest finger question of our second try...my dad won!!! He got into the hot seat and almost won us a cruise. He got out on the 125,000 point question. It was really exciting, the highlight of the trip! We had the Fantasmic dinner package at Mama Melrose's which was absolutely delicious, I highly recommend it. Unfortunatly, Fantasmic got rained out. In fact, that was the only time it rained on us! Our second night there we at at Sci-Fi. Great atmosphere, great burgers. A classic! Next up, Epcot!

We also had two days at Epcot. Spaceship Earth was wonderful, as always. I wish they could spruce up the way down though. Wonders of Life was closed. Got a FastPass for Test Track and it broke with us on it! We had to crawl out on the high speed part and walk off. It was really cool! We got a return FastPass for any time but the ride was down the rest of the day so it had to wait until the second day. We all chickened out of Mission: Space :zipit: In the shops in England, we had our name history done. It's really nice to have, I really recommend it. We ate at Le Cellier in Canada. Soooo good. Easily the best in Epcot. Definitely try it!!!! The Soarin' building is huge! It took up a good chunk of what we could see from our balcony. They were working on its roof every morning though. We watched them. We ate lunch at the Land Sunshine Season Fair thingie and there's definitely not a lot of room in there anymore. I think that's it for Epcot, so next up, AK!

We did AK the day we had Hoop-Dee-Do tickets, because we're in the camp that says Ak is a half-day park. I know, I know, don't hate me. Dinosaur was awesome! It seemed a little rougher since the rehab, which is fine with me! Everest looks incredible. I can't wait until it's open. Ak will definitely be a full-day park when that opens. AK always seems to be more crowded than all the other parks.

Hoop-Dee-Doo was fabulous!! I've seen it ten times, but this was the funniest. Dolly's skirt fell off in the middle of the show, and she tried to hold it up and keep going, and Sixpence kind of wrote it into the show and kept bringing it up. I was laughing so hard I was crying. It was wonderful!

I made friends with some of the guys at the front desk at the Beach Club who were there on the College Program. One of them told me that they're planning to break ground in the next year or two on a new park. He said it's going to be more like Islands of Adventure, a thrill-ride park. Not sure how reliable the info is, but I thought I'd tell you.

The Bonnet Creek Resort looks just about open. They put up a sign out front and put up trees. It makes me mad though. Stupid Fairfield.

I think that's it. Feel free to comment. Thanks for reading!!

Break ground on a new park next year? I seriously doubt it. You really should have ridden Mission: Space, it is simply unforgettable. Glad you had a nice trip!
