My First Disney Cruise!

Aloha! I just discovered your forum today and have really enjoyed looking around! Anyway, my wife and I will be taking our annual Disney trip this year in September and we're going to go on a 4 day Disney cruise. We're both really excited about this and have been doing lots of research. I was wondering if anyone here has any advice or tips for us. Anything would be appreciated.

I am also very curious as to which characters are on the ship and Castaway Cay. We don't have kids but that never stops us from getting our pictures taken! I'm really hoping Stitch will make an appearance somewhere. Does anyone know which characters are usually there?

Thanks!

Yes Stitch is on the cruise!

You will have a great time. I have done two cruises and both on Disney. The ships are beautiful and the staterooms are nice and big. The shows are true Disney and Castaway Cay is amazing!

PS what day in september? I may going on a cruise then too.

You have fun too, and if you hear any castmembers on the cruise talking about this grown man who was obsessed with Stitch on the last cruise... That was me!

Visit....www.castawayclub.com or www.wdwinfo.com for more info about the cruises..I have been on 3 Disney Cruises, the last one being the 4-day....very nice

Try and get to Wavebands at the start of reservations for Palo...the adult only restaurant. You will receive a dining rotation card that will list which restaurant you will be eating at on which night...there are 3 restaurants...Animator's Palette, Triton's and Parrot Cay. Since you have 4 dinners, you will eat at one of them 2x. It will look something like this

Sunday: Triton's
Monday: AP
Tuesday: Parrot Cay
Wednesday: Triton's

Try and switch one of the nights you eat at a restaurant 2x to a dinner at Palo. 2002 we had the best meal and service we have ever had......ever. We still talk about that dinner.

Also, if you like Spa Treatments....get to the Vista Spa when they start taking reservations....they tend to fill up fast as well...

Best time to take strolls on the deck....right at sunrise or late, late night/early am......no one is around except employees...you feel like the ship is all yours

I am sure you will have more questions...just let me know...by the way, this site is usually the nicest, homiest of all the WDW sites out there.

Oh, September 19th. When are you going?

That is funny, I will be getting off the ship that morning. My wife and kids are taking me for my 30th birthday Sept. 16-19. Ironically, I took her to Disneyland and Las Vegas for her birthday (we live 1 hour from Disney World). It was great!

BTW: Castaway Cay is an Island Paradise! You won't want to leave!

How is the cruise with little ones?

We're thinking about going in a few years, but both our daughters will be under age 6. Seems like whenever I watch a video or show about the cruises, they talk about how the adults and kids can do things seperatly. That's exactly what I don't want! I'm on vacation to spend time with my family, not ship them off to a Disney Daycare.

Are there things we can do together?

I've always felt the same way when I see them talking about that.

Thanks for all your replies guys. And here I thought I couldn't get even more excited!

I have the land/sea package booked for June 2005. I also added 4 add'l nites at Disney so we can enjoy the parks. It is myself and my 6 (then 7) year old son cruising. I agree with you Jedi Osborn...I am taking this wonderful vacation to spend time with my son--not put him in cruise day care. We are planning on taking the Dolphin Encounter excursion in Nassau--We cant wait!!
I know its a year away, but we are planning..planning..planning.

Hope the rest of you enjoy your trips...let us know when you get back how it was!!!

Based off of our trip, the following characters were seen: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Chip & Dale, Captain Hook and Pluto.

Try to spend some time in the Dueling Pianos Bar, it was great fun. Jeff & Julie put on great show. And they love to hear people shout songs, especially "Freebird".

Make every effort possible to get a dinner reservation a Palo. It is hands down the best restaurant I have every been to. The most romantic, oustanding food and service.

When ordering alcoholic drinks, please note that the tip is already included. If you miss this like i did, it'll cost you alot very quickly.

Don't pack beach or pool towels, They have plenty, save room in your luggage for souvenirs. Also, on the last day of the cruise, the gift shops run all kinds of specials. However, the duty free liquor store usually runs out of popular brands, so it may be wise to get those items early.

Do not miss "Disney Dreams". It's the best Broadway style show that's not on Broadway.

I am hoping to do the Dolphin Encounter as well. I missed the chance to swim with dolphins almost 20 years ago. I feel that I've waited long enough! :)

That, snorkeling and parasailing are on my to-do list while on the cruise. I think my wife wants to rent bikes. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do on the islands?
