My Disney Experience website is terrible

So I'm often accused of being a Disney cheerleader so here's a nice healthy complaint to appease my critics. :-p

The My Disney Experience website (and all of the new WaltDisneyWorld.com) is absolutely horrible. It took me 30 minutes to make a dining reservation the other day. The site looks nice but it's sloooow. I've had a bit more success on my home computer but it's like pulling teeth to visit that site on my tablet or work PC, which are both normally very very fast. I'm not sure if there are issues with the coding, security certificates, Flash, or anything else, but something needs to change.

The WDW Dining Reservation site used to the the only WW site that worked. We could normally just indicate where and/or when we wanted a reservation, and it would give us a list of available restaurants with times. Separated by those having availability, and those with none. Now, thanks to the "improvement", the site provides a complete listing of all locations that accept reservations, and you have to scroll down the complete list to see which ones have availability. Thankfully, they still give you times available, but it I do not understand why they feel it necessary to list every restaurant in the World. Especially those such as Victoria and Albert and the Turf Club for lunch, since they aren't even open. Progress??

It's not good. Disney should ask Apple for help here. It's all just too hard for people to use. And if the techie people want to say its our fault for being dumb (as they always do), that's fine. Make it something even dumb people can use.

Simple. Easy. That's what it should be.

Just the other night I also had a horrible time with it. Funny thing was that as I was getting more and more frustrated, a Disney survey request popped up on my screen. Too bad for them because I vented good...:D After all, if we are trying to use the site it should be guest friendly, easy to use and work properly so guests have a good experience. Somebody's got to get on the ball.. .

Sort of agree - I think Disney could ask the local HIGH SCHOOL for help, and the Website would improve. High School Students actually TEST things, make backups, and have a roll back plan in the event of a problem. I believe the web site is a symptom - the current CIO is the disease.

Given the amount of ecommerce Disney is now engaged in, I really believe they should contract their services out to Amazon ... great coders, redundant server facilities - hey, when was the last time you could NOT conduct business with Amazon?
I've suggested amazon before, too! I know they have a lot of people surfing and buying all the time...and I have never had a problem with their website. Ever. It's simple. It's easy. It works. :)

Disney has to ask people who know what they're doing HOW to do this stuff.

First rule of holes! :D

Disney needs to get some designers from Apple to help work on their sites. :(
They must ask someone. It's been obvious for years that their sites are plagued with problems. And it's getting much worse.

I seriously think they've forgotten the first rule of holes! (For you young people - When you find you're in one, stop digging!)

When the website first came out...
Dad: I hate this new Disney website!
Me: Oh it can't be that bad.
Dad: It's terrible. They need to go back to the old one.
Me: What's so bad about it
Dad: It's terrible!...(continues with ten minutes of ranting)
Me: So you don't like it?
Dad: No.

I go test it out.
Me: You're right. It sucks.
Dad: Told ya.

It's been hit or miss for us. First we couldn't sync our reservations. Then we got them on and when it came time to book our ADR's we could only book the very first day. After a few minutes we gave up and just waited it out till 7 and called them in. Fortunately we got what we wanted but it made for a very tiring day at work since I was up before 6. The lady who took our reservations didn't seem too surprised when I mentioned our troubles. She said it was something new every day. The old system wasn't broken so they shouldn't have tried to fix it.
