With the recent reviews of the new My Disney Experience App for Apple users, I've become really excited to use it on my Android smartphone. Does anyone know when the app is supposed to launch on Android Phones? I'd really love to have it in time for my trip in a few weeks

No idea. I check for it on a daily basis. Crazy that Disney is so slow to deliver it to Android, especially given that 68% of the smartphones are now running it (iPhone is only 17% of the market share).

As a mobile developer, I can tell you that the reason they have done the iPhone first is because it is a much more stable platform to develop on. Android is extremely fragmented, and it is very difficult to produce a consistent experience across so many different devices. Apple have been extremely careful to avoid that, and developers can be confident that when they write something for iOS, it basically runs the same on every device.

That is very true. Apple's authoritarian rules in regards to apps for iOS does make it much easier on the developers. Google has started to address this issue now with Ice Cream Sandwich and going forward.
