My Cabana Bay Review

All in all I found myself enjoying staying here more than I have at the Disney values/moderates. The rooms seem smaller than even the values, but a lot of square footage for my room was devoted to the entry area and bathroom area, so they may technically be the same size, but definitely smaller than a Disney moderate. With a mix of interior and external room entryways, I find it better than Disney values/moderates. There is no real room service other than pizza delivery, and it was slow to arrive when I ordered at 11:30pm. The pools were great, especially the waterslide and lazy river. I think they should provide free tubes for the lazy river, but that's a minor complaint. Also, there is no way to avoid crossing through the lobby to go from one pool to the other, but you can use the second floor lobby to cross to avoid the crowds of other people checking-in/out, going to the parks, eating, etc.

I didn't try the food court because on my arrival day they were still serving breakfast at 11:30am, with no sign of prepping for lunch (it really aggravated me). I did try the table service location, which is a little misleading. It's the dining area at the bowling alley and has very limited offerings. The food was good if uninspired, and bowling looked fun. The workout center looked large, but I certainly didn't use it (even though it was free).

The transportation was good, but none of my bus drivers seemed to like using the air conditioner, and it was rather irritating to be on a hot bus with the Florida heat and humidity. I also didn't like that you practically drive around the lot at CityWalk to get to the bus stop (though I did appreciate it being underneath the passageway, for shade). They should have re-purposed some of the drop-off areas in front of the deluxe resort shuttle area. But I never had to wait for a bus. The bus waiting area at the resort looked similar to the bus stops at Disney's values, lot's of chains and no shade. But there was no 30 minute waits so it didn't really matter.

Overall I find this to be a much better value than what Disney would offer at the Value and Moderate levels. Even though there was no free express pass, I would stay here again simply because the resort amenities are excellent.

Haha I drive without the AC sometimes too. LOL I know a lot of Floridians that do. We like the heat.

I'm a little confused about having to purchase a tube for the lazy river- that seemed a little unnecessary to me. But it was only $8 so oh well I guess.

Yeah I don't know why they can't just have some available, especially since the lazy river wasn't overwhelmed with people.
