my attempt at a disney delicacy

I'm sure everyone is as big of a fan of the fantastic caramel apples all around WDW as I am, especially at downtown disney. I absolutely adore the mickey apples so i tried to duplicate a few. I have to tell you, though, it is infinitely harder than it looks.

So mine are a little...um, amateur, and the marshmallow ears have toothpicks in them so that they'll actually stay up. 3 hours and lots and lots of dishes later, these are my favorites:

(the top two are the same apple...definitely my favorite.)

(this one is white chocolate.)

not a fan of apples covered in anything other than pie crust, but those look great! Nice job.

Have you tried sticking the marshmallows on with the toothpicks and then covering them? Just a thought.

I think I saw them make them with the toothpicks when they showed it on Unwrapped.

BTW - I am seriously impressed at your attempt - there is NO WAY I could pull that off and I consider myself pretty artistic!

BTW tigsmom - your signature is hilarious. I was watching the NY Jets game the other night and the announcer said something happens 11 out of 10 times - I was rolling!!:ROFLOL:

Great job! They look great. The ones at WDW may look better but that's because they've done it a thousand times. Their first ones looked just like yours. Keep at it and yours will look just like theirs in no time.

Looks awesome!!! Looks yummy too!!! I would suggest sticking the toothpick in the marshmellow and into the apple. Clip off the exposed end and then cover in chocolate.

I, and my kitchen would have been covered in chocolate. Great Job!!!

That looks really good! I wondered how they got the "ears" to stay on. My suggestion - try a little bit of royal icing (confectioners sugar with water) great "glue". I use it on gingerbread houses, the stuff is like cement! Leave it for an hour or two then cover the whole thing in chocolate! :slurp: YUM!!!!
