MVMCP vs Typical Attendance

Does anybody have an idea of what the average Magic Kingdom attendance is (low, moderate and high season) vs how many tickets are sold for MVMCP? Are we talking 1/2 the guests or what. We've never been to the party and I'm trying to get an idea of just "how crowded" it will feel during MVMCP.

It absolutely depends on when you are going. The tickets are capped at a certain number every night. They are NOT empty -- but they disperse crowds very differently than typical days. While it feels like there are a lot of people in the park (and there are) most of them are waiting for the parades, watching fireworks, the shows, or queueing up for cocoa and cookies. The events are designed to get local Floridians into the parks not us Resort guests...though there are plenty of both. You'll find that the resort guests, in the meantime, primarily find the park to be one of the best evenings to get in all the rides with virtually no lines. We have lots and lots of threads on this, so you'll find lots to search and read....

But as far as numbers, that depends on the night. The nights closer to the holidays, the busier it gets. But you can have the odd off-night even in late November/early December that is completely packed depending on the number of large parties that are booked that night. Lots of local corporations use MVMCP as their corporate holiday event -- that can bring in 2-3K people just with one single group.

You will never find that MVMCP is "empty". Far from, they feel really crowded. But depending on your needs, it could be one of your favorite nights in the park.

Also remember, your ticket allows you in at 4:00 - so not only do you get a full night in the park, you also get a few "regular" hours as well.

Ron, thanks for the response. It's been many years since we were there during the holidays and decided this year to go and take in MVMCP for the first time. The only day we could go (already have tickets) is the last party date 12/18. After seeing that it sold out today, I was curious how crowded it will feel compared to the regular hours. I was hoping (fingers crossed) that 20 minutes would be the max for most attractions as I'm sure 45 to 90 min will be the norm during the regular hours that day.

Unless something goes very wrong (and it won't) The longest wait for anything will be for Peter Pan....everything else should be 20 minutes or less all night long...some rides will be walk-ons.

Save Space Mountain for 7:00...they will "stack" the ride and the ride time will show 50 minutes -- in reality, there will be NOBODY in the line as they cleared out the regular park guests...Then head over right away to do Big Thunder Mountain -- that will be about a 15 minute wait even though that ALSO will be stacked and it will say 40 minutes. Never fails.

Despite the sell-out, the rides will still be short waits, with most walk-ons....

I don't know about the exact numbers, but as others have said it depends on what you want to do.

In terms of rides, the lines will be short, but you will see a lot of hustle bustle in the hub and on Main St. I don't think I did ANY M&Gs on my last MVMCP, and I plan to do it this time, but I know those can be the longest lines.

You'll see a pretty big crowd for the parade. I usually tour in the off season and I found it more crowded than a typical crowd for the evening parade/fireworks, so you will want to get a spot early.

Most people at the party are trying to see the parade, fireworks, celebrate the season show, some meet and greets, and the cookies and drinks. Between seeing these and waiting for them, it doesn't leave much time for rides.

I believe the max numbers for a party is in the ball park of 20,000.
