MVMCP Parking Fee For AP Holders

Does anyone know if they will be charging AP holders for parking again this year for MVMCP? Last year was the first year I remember this happeneing and was very disapointed that they would not honor this perk just because it was a seperatly priced admission event, to which AP holders still had to basically pay full price for anyway. At least Univerasl gives good discounts to AP holders for these types of events and does not charge us to park!

Sorry to complain, it just seems like Disney kills the AP perks year after year.

I never realized you had to pay to park for the hard ticket events. (always stayed on site) I'm sure as a local you must know of a few ways to avoid the parking fee.

You could always make a dinner reservation at the Poly and park there. After your dinner :animwink: just hop on the monorail to the MK.

Huh?

How on earth could they make APs pay for parking at the event? If you arrive anytime before the park closes, they can't charge you to park.

When/why/how did this happen or is this hearsay?

If you're an AP holder, just arrive for your visit earlier in the day and use your AP free parking.
Or if you can't arrive earlier, AP free park over at Epcot and monorail over to MK.

Last year when we entered the parking lot before the event started but probably after the MK shut down, they informed us that the AP does not include parking for special events. The parking attendant was persistant on this. We paid and then went inside to guest relations and they informed us that this was a change for 2005 and that MANY people had already compained about it.

I would try to get to the park before they close, however, I shoudln't have to if I can't make it early. As far as parking at Epcot, doesn't the monorail to Epcot shut down before MVMCP ends?

Thanks for your responses....

Nope, Epcot monorail runs for a long time, atleast 11pm. It depends on how crowded Epcot is and if they feel they've gotten everyone out of Epcot. If MVMCP coincides with Epcot's EMH you're in luck because the monorail will run most of the night for resort guests (that'd include you too!)

If anything, you look all puppy-dog eyed and they put you on a bus to Epcot. It's probably easier just to get there prior to MK's closing.

Just checked my AP sleeve and sure enough it does state "Guests with an Annual Pass are entitled to admission during normal operating hours as well as Theme Park parking (excluding special events requiring separate admission charge) (Emphasis mine)

Yeah, if you want to have your car towed, sure.

They will give you a 3 hour pass. Assuming you stay for the entire MVMCP that would be 5 hours. Would they really tow you for a 2 hr violation, especially at midnight?

Will they tow you? Probably not... can they? Yes, and I've seen them do it before.

I'd rather not risk it.

I recently went to the Halloween Party and was charged parking. I was not expecting the charge, and didn't have cash on me. The guy said he'd take a credit card. I even went to Guest Services to ask if he was right in charging an AP holder parking and they said yep.

What bugs me is that the park closed at 7pm that day, of course for the party to start at 7pm. I pulled into the parking toll booth thing at exactly 6:30pm and was still charged parking. I was pretty mad. Had I known I would be charged, I would have gotten there earlier. They didn't refund my money and I didn't get the souvenier t-shirt I wanted to buy. You know, cause they wouldn't sell me half of one :brick:

I am well aware of the 3 hour parking pass. They CAN tow you if you stay for 5, and yes even at midnight. Will they? Probably not. But they CAN, and that's enough to deter me from doing it. It will cost more to get your car back than it cost to just pay for parking.

I don't think I would risk a $100+ tow to save $10 either. And I am sure they would be more likely to cut me and my rental car some slack than they would a "locals" car. But as I stated in my first reply I am sure you "locals" know how to avoid paying for parking, especially at the MK.

I park at Poly whenever I got to the MK. I havent parked in regular guest parking in over 6 months id say. They will give you atleast 3 hours. Sometimes you will have security that wont mind at all and will just let you on through. Ive parked there all day once and nothing was ever touched on my car. Try it if you want it.

I can usually get through MK in less than 3 hours so I dont really mind the 3 hour pass.

You think that sucks as a AP being charged, I'm a castmember and they charged me at Mickey's not so scary. I was so mad they just don't think things through sometimes. They got my $10 bucks but we waited and had dinner off property so they lost money there. I didn't buy a t-shirt for the event like I do every year so they lost money there. Firgured they lost about $120 to $150 in revenue that night .:brick:
