"Museum of the Weird" coming to Disneyland?...

That's the first I've ever heard that the Museum of the Weird was going to be a dinner-attraction near the Mansion in New Orleans Square. I had always assumed the Museum was just an artistic outlet by Rolly Crump as they developed the Mansion in the 60's, and many of those sight gags ended up in the attraction.

Here's a 3 minute video clip of Walt Disney touring Julie Rheim as Miss Disneyland Tencennial (before they came up with the "Ambassador" title) around WED work rooms in 1965. At the 1:35 mark in the video, Walt introduces Julie to Roland Crump and shows her the Museum of the Weird props.

This is one of my favorite videos of Walt, as it's quite obvious the Haunted Mansion concept was barely coming together. Walt can't even remember what he calls it, and the title "Haunted Mansion and Supernatural" doesn't quite have a ring to it.

This shows Walt just being Walt, wandering around and talking about "things" that he thought might be fun for folks to see and do at Disneyland. I also have to believe there was a decent bottle of Scotch waiting for Uncle Walt just off camera during this shoot.
