I apologize if someone has posted this already, but apparently the coaster derailed today without any injuries. It seems new years day is a bad day for UO. Exactly a year ago today Dudley doo rights caught fire.

Later reporting says there was no derailment, but both E.T. and Mummy had "mishaps" due to computer glitches.

Rides break down... It happens... Key is no one got hurt...

Of course, but they don't always derail. That's the only reason I posted it because that is a big deal. I just read that the rides opened an hour later, so that confirms it was just a glitch.

I'll post what I put on OU:

I can not stress enough how safe this ride is.

It would be incredibly difficult for a Mummy vehicle to derail. Besides the wheels, the frame is a C shape that cups around the rail. Just like B&M coasters, all the wheels could fall off and the car still would not come off the track.

The only other way would be if a train ran over a switch that was not positioned properly. This would also be extremely hard to do because of the fail-safes in place. When a switch goes into a certain position, it triggers a sensor for the duration it is in the position, therefore enabling the brakes around it to release for the proper direction. If the switch falls out of position, the brakes lock up, stopping movement in the area and probably causing an E-Stop.

I know... At first I read it derailed too.. But now that it has been confirmed the ride didn't derail, I'm just glad no one was injured...
