Mr. Potato Head?

Was on TSMM today and noticed a blue curtain ("bandanna") in front of where the Mr. Potato Head animatronic is. I've been in the line before where he was not working but I hadn't actually seen it totally blocked off before.
Is this what they do when he's not working? Is he getting some maintenance done? If so, how long has it been this way?

I searched the forums for an answer but didn't find anything. That queue is a lot less interesting without him haha

It has to be sometime after August 28th to now that Mr. Potato Head got totally blocked off. I rode on Toy Story Midway Mania on August 28th and I saw Mr. Potato Head animatronic without anything blocked off.

What I can tell you that there had to be something wrong with that AA because I recalled not hearing him talk around 3 to 5 minutes in line before talking or singing again.
