So a job opportunity arose and as I once lived in Daytona Beach I decided to jump on it. Will be taking a light paycut but going from Massachusetts to Florida will make up for that. So I was hoping some of the locals like @PhotoDave219 and others may be able to lay it on me pretty straight.

We are moving into an apartment before the house hunt in late March and our budget is conservative so it won't be in the greatest area but not worst looking at north of MCO in a gated community. Any two cents guys?

I don't know a lot about Daytona other then they hold a big race there every spring and they have a massive grouping of "bikers" around a lot as well. It is a tourist area like Orlando and it is around 70 miles from WDW in a very high traffic corridor. Like most waterfront areas, the nicest places are close to the ocean and the quality declines as you head west away from the water.

I am not a local, but, have been through there many times. I'm sure others can give you an up-close and personal viewpoint.
