Moving from a different state to live my dream

Hello,

My name is Lauren and I'm currently 20. Since I've been little it has been my dream to work at Walt Disney World. After my 21st birthday next year I will be moving down to Florida to peruse this dream. I've currently applied to my local Disney store as a second job so I have a little bit of a foot in the door. I have a few questions for people who live near the park or Disney cast members.

What would a good place be to live that won't cost me an arm and a leg? I just need a plain 1 bedroom apartment or should I look into getting a roommate? Are there any parts nearby that aren't like a major city? I'm a country girl, currently i live in an extremely small town in upstate New York. So I'm looking for something that won't exactly be overwhelming.

How hard is it to get a full time job at Disney world? I was looking at either working on a bakery or a tour guide. I know, very different haha. But honestly I'd be happy picking up trash. I just want to know if ill need to find a full time job around there first before asking for one at Disney or what.

I know this is a lot so any feedback at all would be greatly appreciated! Thank you very much!

Orlando's gotten expensive. Have a full time job lined up first, and make a budget you can stick to.

Since you're so young, I suggest stay at home a bit longer and finish your degree. Orlando is FULL of entry level work that pays poorly - at least have a degree lined up when you realize that you need more to live on and begin to search for a non-Disney job.

I'll second mkt! My family and I are moving to Orlando (I start at WDW in December). Rental market is insanely expensive.

Hi Lauren! That's so exciting! My boyfriend and I just moved here last month for the same reason and so far it's been great! If you're looking for a somewhat quieter place that's not far from Disney I would look into Clermont. It's got tons of restaurants and shopping but it's definitely not a big city. Plus it's very safe and only about 30 mins to Disney. Good luck! :)
