"Motion Control" on console?

Hi This is kind of off-topic question but I have something to ask to CMs
Many rides have common components and I know the functions of most of them.
However I have no idea what "Motion Control" is. What is the function and under what kind of situations CMs handle this switch?

The motion control functions determines whether or not the ride vehicles go down the ride path in full motion or not. When inactive the ride vehicles just go straight down the path not using any of the hydraulics or reacting to the surroundings. Typically this is used when moving ride cars into position either in the morning when opening or at close. To active or inactive you need both the load and unload console to turn the switch at the same time.

so when inactive, the vehicles go down the path like as normal but without special motion like vibration?
