Mosquitos at Port Orleans French Quarter?

I'm staying at Port Orleans French Quarter and am concerned about mosquitoes. Any room or other recommendations from those who have traveled there?

We were concerned about this as well during our visit last month but had no issues with mosquitos either in our room (first floor corner room closest to the French Quarter boat dock) or on the walking path along the river between French Quarter and Riverside.

If you are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant in the near future, I would not go to Florida due to ZIKA.

I wouldn't either.

That being said, I don't recall ever encountering mosquitoes on WDW property, ever. King or coral snakes (I didn't stick around to try and figure out which one!!!), alligators, armadillos, rabbits, squirrels, ducks and giant water bugs, yes, but no mosquitoes! :)

I have stayed at POFQ many times over the years and can only remember one time getting multiple mosquito bites while sitting by the pool near some bushes close to the serpent slide area. It was dusk to dark and it was September. That was the one and only time I can remember in many trips. I have always been amazed at how well they do at mosquito control. That being said, this year I will be using spray often.

Mosquitoes bit me more around the Magic Kingdom than they did at Port Orleans. I always use Off but I forgot that day. I did get bitten by a fire ant at Riverside one trip. Thank goodness it was just one lonely ant because that hurt!!!!!

The only place I have seen a mosquito at WDW was in the Fantasmic! theater at dusk while waiting for the show to start. I brought Off towelettes for my legs and feet. I keep a few in my park bag in case I spot the little pests.

Do you work for the Alaskan Tourism Committee? Maybe Bermuda?

I mean really you are trying desperately to get people to stay out of Florida. Who's paying you? ;)

We stay at POFQ for most trips. Never had issues with getting bit there. The only resort I have ever been almost eaten alive was AKL. They say they do not spray there because of the animals. I went out in the evening to look at the animals through the night vision binoculars they have and could not stay out more then a few minutes because I became a buffet for all of the skeeters. Plus almost every time I went out to get to the Mara I had some buzzing around me. Pretty much ruined me on AKL. Don't think I will every stay there again because of it. It was that bad. That is the only time I have had issues with them in over 20 year of trips.

Floridians. We're getting dadgum tired of all those tourists clogging up our roads, crowding our restaurants, calling us Southerners "dumb red necks"....and paying taxes so we don't have to. ;)

I don't know why people are so worried about Zika here in the Orlando area. We have just as many cases in the Memphis area and my folks said there's more than a dozen cases near them in Idaho. Idaho, people, where it's a 30 minute drive for them to go to Walmart. There's no reason to turn into Chicken Little.
