ive been cruising the boards here and planning a trip of my own for a few weeks now, and ive come across several times examples of trip itineraries where someone will be staying at more than one resort during their stay.
how do you go about planning this?

thanks!

Book two separate vacation packs - one at each resort.

Though DIsney makes it as easy as possible, it's not all it's cracked up to be unless you will never go to WDW again and simply MUST try two resorts.

All the packing/unpacking and stress of checking in again and wondering if all your stuff made the move with you, will you like the new room, etc. is more than the benefit of staying in two rooms for me.

Some will disagree, but once I unpack....I aint doing it again til I leave for the plane!

The WDW reservattions people will work it out for you, but it might actually affect your package if all the stuff you want is not available at one or the other resorts. Give them a call to be sure!

Good Luck!

Was it worth it?

I'd like to ask those of you who have done this voluntarily:
Was it worth moving to a different resort during your stay?
Why did you move?

I had to do it back in 91 for my honeymoon. I couldn't book the Contemporary and Flordian for my entire stay so I ended up at the Contempory for a few days and the the GF for the last few days.

It worked fine for me. Just packed and jumped onto the monorail and then checked back in. I think Disney makes it easier now by transporting your luggage for you.

In the end, I was happy because I got to experience 2 exceptional hotels.

My DH and I did two resorts on our honeymoon in 98. We stayed at the All Star Music and Dixie Landings(when it was still called that). It was great. The only mistake we made was going to Dixie Landings first and then to All Stars Music. It was a little bit of a letdown. Go to the nicer of the two resorts last.

Enjoy!!!:o

DH and I plan to do resort-hop this July - 6 nights at POFQ and 6 nights at BWI (a Garden Suite! EEEEEEE! :sohappy: )

Our reasons for simple: we wanted to stay at WDW for as long as possible, and we wanted to try out a Garden Suite. So, we're breaking it up. I'm hoping it won't be that bad to pack and unpack, especially seeing as I plan to do a bit of laundry the day before we switch... :lookaroun

As I posted above...

A) I did it voluntarily

B) No. It was not worth it in my opinion.

C) Company pays at the Contemporary...I pay at POP Century!

Note that this was a 7-day trip split 4/3. As someone mentioned, if you are staying for two weeks, I could probably recommend a 7/7 split, as the time between unpacking, packing, unpacking, and packing again is more spread out.

Also....I travelled alone. With a family it would be even more confusing.

To each His own, I guess. Just be sure to review the pros and cons before you decide.

I never thought I'd be one to switch hotels, but it's sort of become a 'tradition' of sorts for us! This is our third trip at Disney where we'll be spending time at two resorts.

It works great for us, but remember we don't have kids! I can imagine it would be more difficult with kids. And in my opinion, you need to stay at least 10 days (5/5) to make it worth it, because there's no way I'm staying at a hotel for only 2-3 days and then packing up for another...too stressful!

We always rent a car which makes moving our luggage easy and we like choosing a MK resort for half the trip and an Epcot resort for half the trip.

I've done it once before and will be doing it again this June. The first time I had stayed at WL for 8 nights and to get the full benefit of the Ultimate Park Hopper ticket at the time (full day admission for day of check-in and check-out) I had also booked a room at Caribbean Beach for 1 night. I'll have to agree with TrentMom - if you do the nicer resort first, the second resort is a little bit of a let down.

This next trip coming up, I had originally booked 2 nights at AS Sports. Then, my scheduling of vacation had to change a bit, allowing me to spend one more day at WDW. So I booked 1 night following at the Contemporary (I splurged for a MK view Tower Room).
