More PhotoPass photographers needed in new locations

Some of my favorite family photos were captured by Disney PhotoPass photographers! But, after multiple trips, it would be nice to get some shots in different locations. We've posed in front of the castle, TOT, Tree of Life, Spaceship Earth, etc. Has anyone heard if WDW is considering this? Why not have photographers available to capture more candid moments off the beaten path? How many fellow WDW fanatics purchase Memory Maker?

I highly doubt it. Photopass CMs are located in iconic locations as well as areas made to be photogenic and where people would want nice photos. Though they do move to odd or popular locations such as Tomorrowland’s now famous ‘Purple Wall’ and such. Where would you like to see them?

Since photopass is included with an annual pass I'm surprised that Disney hasn't added different locations. It would be nice if they had photographers set up in different areas of the parks each day of the week. Doing it that way wouldn't add too much cost since it's only a few extra photographers in the park each day.

I honestly think there are too many. I enjoy it, but I see them standing around routinely, even as recently as last week when I was there for 10 days.

I'd like to see more around the World Showcase, in particular.

They do. I've gotten pictures at random places in every park. For instance, I've stumbled across them on the trails in AK, in Harambe Market at AK, in front of the FoTLK venue, on I think every bridge in the park, as well as on the paths throughout the various lands. Unless the process changed recently, there are Photopass CMs who instead of being staffed at a particular spot, are assigned to "roving" and are given much more leeway about where they can take pictures. But at the end of the day, many guests want the family picture in front of the castle and not on a random path, so that is how they will staff the CMs.

To me it seams like there are less Photopass CM now than there was in the past. I remenber that every meet and greet had a photographer. Now it is hit and miss. On main street there would be many ready to take your picture in front of the castle. Now there are only one or 2.

Why would they care about annual passholders when it comes to photopass photographers. Frankly I think they just threw in the free photopass to AP'ers as a perk they thought would make the AP look better but which they didn't really expect to see a of AR'ers actually use. They want to make money from the photographers and that doesn't happen by making people that aren't paying for the photos happier it works by getting the limited number of photographers in spots that are most likely to generate a photo purchase. And I say limited number of photographers because their seems to be a limited number of people that understand how to take a decent photo that are willing to work for Disney. We've seen a fairly marked decline in the quality of photos we've gotten from Disney photographers over the years which is probably another reason you don't see more being placed in unusual places. They put them in a spot, give them a little cheat sheet on how to set up the camera and what to do and that's it... New places would require a new cheat sheet and instructions which is more work than Disney is willing to invest in.

Every day there can be a fluctuation in the amount of photopass photographers in a given park, even from hour to hour, depending on staffing levels for that moment. If there is a limited amount of photographers available, there are certain photo locations that are mandatory staffing, but there is a priority list that is worked off of. For example, Epcot. If there are very limited photographers, they will make sure all the character locations are staffed to the best of their ability. Then they will make sure the icon locations have a photographer, and then work their way out from there. On a day where Epcot may over an excess amount of photopass photographers to work with, they have locations that normally wouldn't be placed, (these locations usually boil down to what shots acquire the most sales, etc.). There are also photographers that are "roving" in certain areas of the park, throughout world showcase you may have one photographer roving from Canada to France, a photographer roving in future world, etc.

So it really boils down to prioritizing locations/staffing levels.

They just added dedicated customer service for annual pass holders and that doesn't bring in more money so they must care about pass holders a little.

We do Memory Maker every time we go but now have so many pictures of family at the entrance, the Castle in the background, the globe at Epcot, character spots etc etc. I am not sure if MM is worth it.
Two years ago there were a few roving photographers taking pictures and these are some of our more unique pictures. I wish Disney would do more of that.

On trip a month ago, we had them at China, Italy, and France. Also, had them in some random places at AK that we had never done before. One was on a tree of life trail. Found it by accident. The Photopass girl, said we were her first pic and she had been there a couple of hours.

US/Canada areas would be a rover in the area. most likely during the day time if staffing is filled. UK, the photographer hanging out with alice *should* roam around the area in between sets to grab some photos!

Find a photopass photographer and move them where you want them to be. It can be done. We did it. You can't take them to a different land or anything, but you can modify the shots to not be so stereotypical and boring.
