I thought I would add my thoughts to Dr. Fall's fine description <http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24473>. I too was there when they swung the gate open around 7:15PM yesterday (6/10) (we probably bumped into each other
).
What impressed me most about the attraction is the 'Disney' feel. Usually when I ride a new attraction, I think about it as a black box, not caring what was inside per se, but how I felt going in versus how I felt going out. Some attractions have the 'feel' of a Disney attration, and some (including some Disney attractions) don't.
Let me say that this attraction rivals ToT in terms of the 'feel'. Top notch presentation. Even the somewhat bland exit area between the ride and the post show fit in with the theme.
So given that, here are a few comments. First, the queue is absolutley awesome. The huge centrifuge spinning in the queue simply cannot be described. Probably one of the most expensive queues to construct ever.
As for the motion sickness, it's defenitly there if you experience that sort of thing. Unlike Dr. Falls, I definelty felt a short period of lateral movement at the beginning of launch; i.e. I could feel we were spinning. It doesn't last long (5 seconds), but that, combined with the fact that the screen is showing you looking straight up and (obviously) not 'spinning', causes my brain to start spinning (literally and figuratively
. I don't get lightheaded on Kracken, but I do here.
I rode it twice in a row, and that was enough. I felt light quesyness for a few hours. Don't let that stop you, though. It's worth it.
I probably shouldn't mention this, but I seem to notice Gary Senise was reading a teleprompter during the preshow. Maybe it was just me. Now it's going to bug me![Smile :) :)](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png)
Also, guest flow was a bit slow on that first ride, but on the second it imporved dramatically. I think that they were ramping up from downtime and that might have caused the longer than usual waits on the first ride.
Finally, I felt the merchandise in the shop was top-notch. Better than most.
Overall, a brilliant attraction. Certainly top 5 at any Disney Park and tops at Epcot (like that was hard). As a big fan of the 'feel' of Horizons, this is a worthy successor.
I will probably go back tonight and try to get a complete video of what I can. They never say no video taping so what the heck
I did notice someone taking digital photos of the screen inside the ride. Maybe that was one of our fellow members ![Smile :) :)](https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png)
