Mirrors.

There's one on either side of the door, running from the door frame to the "split" between the side and back walls. The mirror then reflects the side walls, making it look like the side wall is a non-existent back wall. This then leaves room behind the door and mirrors for a physical set of the room "inside" the doorway.

A similar effect is used at SGE (and Alien Encounter before it) in the pre-show. Under the transport tubes there are two mirrors at a right angle. These reflect the walls on either side, making it appear that you can see underneath the platform right back to the wall behind it. In actuality there's a space behind the mirrors that conceals the animatronic when it's not up in the tube above.
