Monsters Inc Ride- Color Changing Randall?

Has anyone gone to see the Monsters Inc Ride at DL? How does Randall work when he changes colors? Looks from the video to me maybe like LEDs under his skin whatever that may be. At first I thought it was a projection but doesn't look like it.

I do believe it is just a projection. I have seen flash pictures ofthis randall and he is just a solid figure that is painted a grayish purple in normal lighting. At first I thought it would be more complex because kevin raffery said it was new technology, but then I saw that the figure moves a little, and I guess since the Floating Leota effect just premiered almost a year ago and it was new tech then I guess projecting something onto a moving object is what makes it more High tech than a normal slide projector.

Never seen it in person, so I can't give you a certain answer -- but maybe he's made out of the same thermoplastic light-spreading stuff as the masks of the trumpet guys in Spectromagic.

I am sure it is done the same way the do the face on Buzz Lightyear at Buzz Lightyears Space Ranger Spin.

I've heard some reports of some of the pattern showing up on Boo sometimes. Guess the projector isn't perfecly aligned yet. Hey, it's only in soft openings.
