In the realm of things that go bump in the night … another animated flick from Pixar (Toy Story, Toy Story 2, A Bug's Life), this comedy-adventure tells the story of a large, furry, spotted, and horned James P. Sullivan (John Goodman) and his best friend and roommate, a green, opinionated, feisty little one-eyed monster (Billy Crystal), who audition for spots under children's beds. They then must capture the children's screams, that provide the energy on which the monsters live. When the two accidently transport a little girl (Mary Gibbs) back to their realm — an absolute no-no — they are exiled from their land by the factory's mean crablike CEO (James Coburn) and are forced to live in the human world.

Starring Voices of: Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi, James Coburn, Jennifer Tilly, Bonnie Hunt, Mary Gibbs
Directed by Pete Docter, David Silverman
Studio Walt Disney Pictures

Info:
The movie will hit theaters a few weeks earlier than planned as Pixar and Disney aim to give their film an edge over Warner Bros.' rival Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Originally touted by the studio as a Thanksgiving release, Monsters will now open wide Nov. 2, two weeks before Potter hits screens Nov. 16. The move "allows us to position ourselves as one of two holiday films of the season before 'Harry Potter' enters the market," Pixar CEO Steve Jobs said. (Hollywood Reporter)

Disney/PIXAR are suppose to relase a new set of outtakes with Monsters Inc. when Harry Potter is released into theaters on November 16th. The new outtakes for A Bug's Life were able to out beat Dreamwork's The Prince of Egypt when it premiered in 1998.
