I got on a bus from Downtown Disney to the Contemporary Resort a few days ago. When I arrived at the Contemporary, I ran right to the monorail station. I asked the CM who was on the concourse if i could ride in the front and he said yes. I rode the "Lime" Monorail and Doug was the pilot. There were our of us in the front car, me and another family. Doug was very nice and he said that th monorails could reach a speed of 80mph! He said that he could possibly try it only in the EPCOT Path but he would never try it. Also, Disney has set a maximum speed of 40mph and he went a little above as we reached the Grand Floridian Resort and the monorial stopped short and them resumed. He also said that Disney has no plans to build another resort, or monorail resort until 2005-2008 because the capacity of the resorts was large and PopCentury will now have 7000 rooms and the construction has resumed. He have me a Co-Pilots License and I was really happy. The View of the Park was great. There was a water channel running behind the MK and I asked him what that was for. He said it is used to fill in the later at 20K Lagoon and the Water near Cinderellas Castle and the Tommorowland Lake.
Well it was really cool to sit in the front of the monorail and i love my little co-pilots license.
