Monorail or bus?

I have been to Disney World 5 times and have always had a rental car. In January, I am taking my Disney World Virgin (virgin of WDW) down to the greatest place on Earth... W/o a rental car, we will be going from Caribbean Beach to each resort for 4 days.. One day in each resort... Am I never going to be taking the monorail using Disney transportation? Waaaaa.... :(

You will be taking the bus. The only resorts serviced by the monorail are the Contemporary, the Polynesian and the Grand Floridian. The only way you will need to take the monorail is if you go from MK to Epcot or vise versa or you just want to take it for a spin.

Darn. Wasn't planning on doing any park hopping on such a short trip. Maybe I'll take him to the Grand Floridian for a drink after a day in Epoct or MK just to show him the monorail. Then I could take the monorail back to MK and Epcot and get a bus to Caribbean Beach. Thanks, but still boo hoo to not using it daily. I love it!!

if you dont mind the extra time and the transfer you could take the bus to the TTC and then the monorail to MK

Take the busses if your going to the park in the morning. However, don't miss the opportunity to show you Disney Newcomer the magic that can only be found on the monorail. It's too special to pass up. Even if you get on to ride the entire route. Have a great time, and here's hoping you have a new Disney fanatic on your hands.

There are no longer buses from resorts to the TTC. The only buses that stop at the TTC are buses from AK and MGM.

If I am not mistaken the resort busses no longer go to the TTC they go directly to MK. The only busses that go to the TTC are from the other parks.

Epcot will be open nightly until 9pm. Animal kingdom will probably be closing around 6pm this time. On the day you are visiting animal kingdom, you can take the bus from AK to the TTC and then monorail to Epcot. Enjoy dinner at Epcot then watch Reflections of Earth before you bus back to your resort for the night.

If you really need your monorail fix when you visit the Magic Kingdom, there isn't anything that says you can't get off the bus from Caribbean Beach at MK, walk over to the MK monorail station, ride the whole thing around the seven seas lagoon, and then go into MK.

On your Epcot day, take a bus to MK, ride the express monorail to the TTC, and then Monorail to Epcot.

There are LOTS of ways you can ride the monorail... just not directly.

i think he said he wasnt gonna park hop though

the no bus to TTC thing kinda stinks cause the monorail effect is all about like "wheres the magic kingdom" then the monorail pulls up "WOOOOWW!!!!!!"

Great idea.. I thought of that. Only, my favorite restaurant in WDW is Boma, so we are going to go to the AKL after AK. I've stayed at this resort with the fam, so I want my bf to see it. You guys, it is so much fun pumping him up. I had him watch the video the other night. I play this old Disney World CD I ahev when I plan out trip. But, unfortunately, he is a big fan of 80s songs that don't exist anymore! It's so cute to hear him get a piece of "Listen to the Land" in his when he has never been there and especially when that song doesn't exist. I think the only one that still does of those old Epcot songs is Canada and the American Adventure song.

When is your meal at Boma? Since Boma is a buffet, it may not take you ALL that long to eat since you don't have to wait to be served. Now I'm all for taking a leisurely time with a meal, but you'ld be hard pressed to spend more than 2 hours at Boma for dinner.

Depending on how much you like animals, Animal Kingdom may not take a full day to see and do all the attractions. If you ate dinner at 5:30 or 6, you should have enough time to bus from AKL to MK and then monorail to Epcot for RoE.... IF MK is open late enough that evening.

It could go either way. Been there once in Jan where I froze my butt off waiting for fireworks, been there once in Jan in a t-shirt watching fireworks.

You won't need a snow suit but a good insulated jacket would be a good idea. Most of the time you wont need it but when you are places like the World Showcase and a strong wind is blowing across the lake it can get quite cold.

Yep or close to that. So the last bus leaves Epcot around 11-ish. The problem is that buses stop going TO the parks much closer to closing time. So if, for example, MK closes at 6pm some night you would not be able to get a bus to MK from AKL after 6pm.

Oh and just check the weather channel before you leave about what kind of stuff to pack.

It can get cold on some nights, so a winter coat might not be out of the question. Check weather forecasts online right before you leave.

the last two Jan and Feb have been very cold. You may want to check the weather station on line before you leave. Or you could do what I do take two sets of clothing, one for warm day and other for a cold day. Have fun.
