By the way, I found out that a plan to expand the EC monorail line to near Disney Springs was cancelled in 2011 when Florida Governor Rick Scott cancelled the Florida High Speed Rail project. The extension would have followed the 1982 plan. Near I-4 and across Disney Springs (south of LBV Blvd), a FHSR station for WDW (designed by Disney) would have been built, offering connections to the FHSR system, the WDW monorail, and pathways to Disney Springs. This project was cancelled when the FHSR was cancelled.
Now, All Aboard Florida wants to use the I-4 median (which was designed with easements for HSR) to build Phase II west out to WDW (from OIA). Considering AAF is being run by a former Disney executive, it is very possible that Phase II will cause Disney to un-cancel the HSR station and monorail extension plan.
