We are a very preppy family and want to make monogrammed shirts for our next DL and WDW, please don't suggest anything too difficult! I do not know how to sew.

Are you looking at buying something like a small embroidery machine? That is a rather steep expense for a few shirts which could be ordered online or purchased locally.

We order from Etsy a lot and It would be useful. How much do they usually cost?
For a small machine, the very minimum a few hundred dollars if not even something closer to $1,000. Then if you want to do more than a few basic letters and the preloaded designs you will need design software that will be a similarly sized investment. I think all total my wife spent about $2500 for software and a small machine that only does about 4" x 4". Not knowing how to sew, you're probably going to be at a disadvantage in regards to knowing the right needles to use, what fabrics your machine can handle, etc. I have several times heard the frustrations of an item that ripped as it was nearing completion.
