Monday Night Football?

Well, with ABC (hopefully) on the verge of a turn around, has anyone heard an update on Disney/ABC’s contract negotiation with the NFL for Monday Night Football? Last I heard they deal, they said could go either way, and that they were trying to possible switch the Monday night game with the Sunday night ESPN game…

Just curious.

So long as they get rid of Madden. I love his "Madden NFL" games, but can't stand him as a broadcaster.

Yeah, me too, though I have to say the ESPN game was a far better game this year and hey, you can't beat $20 bucks...

But I digress. CBS and FOX both have new deals for the NFL through 2011, and I was hoping Disney will see through to doing the same…

I wasn't that impressed with the ESPN game this year. I bought it before getting Madden, but after I got Madden, I had no desire to play the ESPN one anymore. Madden seemed to have smoother gameplay IMO.

Well, here's a little update...

From the Wall Street Journal:

For Disney, Pressure
Is On to Make a Play
For NFL Contract

It may take Disney a while to figure that out. The company faces internal tumult regarding the search for a successor to Chairman Michael Eisner and a distraction in the trial over former company president Michael Ovitz's exit package. George Bodenheimer, president of ABC Sports and ESPN, says the networks won't be rushed into a deal. "Our timetable has not changed, and our intention remains the same: to renew both packages," he said in a statement yesterday.
