Mold in Art of Animation

I stayed in a Little Mermaid room at AoA a couple of months ago. I loved the resort. Walking through the Lion King area was my favorite, so fun with the elephant graveyard and everything. And my Little Mermaid room was so cute. The only issue was the mold in the shower. There was an insane amount of mold. I have never seen that before at any hotel not just Disney. I told Mousekeeping about it and they were very nice and helpful and when I went to shower the next day I could see that they used some powerful products on it and scraped it away. But by the end of my stay the mold was back in full force. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm thinking its because the building was abandoned for a while? Or is it just a Florida thing and I never noticed before?

It's not just a Florida thing. It's an anywhere there is a lot of moisture thing. If that room sat very long without the AC on and the shower was damp, mold grows.

Humidity + closed space... it's why so many FL hotel rooms stink in the first place.

I do think that the bathrooms need better ventilation. They should have stronger fans to vent the humidity from the shower. That would help a lot with the mold.
And a lot of hotels have no fan at all in the bathrooms now and some have fans that do not work. I'm not really sure if Disney hotels do or not but I do know that Cabana Bay at UO eliminated fans in the bathroom. Mold is an issue down here but it sounds like your bathroom really had a major problem. I'm glad you made mousekeeping aware.

I don't understand why they would not have to put fans in the bathrooms. Building codes for a home demand either a fan or a window. Why would a hotel be any different?

Cabana Bay has a very sophisticated positive pressure HVAC system.

If AoA has a mold problem it is mostly likely because of a poorly designed air transfer system.
