Moderate vs Value with free meal plan

My favorite resort is POFQ. However, When the free meal plan is offered I stay at a Value Resort. I prefer the QS meal plan so I don't have to be at a certain place at a certain time. So when we go with free meal plans we usually stay at POP. But when we don't have the meal plan it's POFQ.

By the way we have used the meal plan that goes along with moderate resorts and found that after you leave the tip (not included in plan) you don't really have much of a savings. Also, like I said above, you have to work your day around your reservations which isn't my style. We are more spontaneous.

Maybe if there were a question associated with it or a request for opinions it would gather attention. You just stated your own value proposition for Value and QS dining vs Moderate and TS. I'm sure you've heard it before, rack rate + food is it really worth it in terms of time and dollars ?

I thought about asking a question but didn't want to tie the post down with specifics. I guess the point I was trying to make is that not so much the cost but that I prefer QS meals and they are offered only at Value during the free meal offers. If free meals are not offered I just don't get them. I did, however, make the point that when getting free meals at a moderate resort the cost of a tip adds to my reason for not going to a moderate when free meals are offered. But mainly that I don't like being tied down to reservations.

I prefer to get the room discount on the Moderate and then just pay for the QS meals Out of Pocket. The Dining Plan doesn't really save you any money anymore.
