The dates are officially released from Disney around the first of may when the tickets go on sale. Other sites release their "official" dates really early and then typically have to go back and revise them to the actual dates. Beware using those early dates. May 1st or 2nd is the true official release of the dates. All others are speculation based on previous years.

You can kinda get an idea when you see the park hours for MK. If the park is closing early that day there is a good chance it is for MNSSHP. Not official though of course.

True, but that only works for a little bit of September. By the time October's park hours are released the MNSSHP dates are released. However, looking at the park hours is typically a good indicator of their intentions for the party.

I should have been more specific, the park hours I was referring to would be from unofficial sites. We tend to check these but know they are not 100% accurate. It stretches out the planning process for us, which is kinda fun.

I agree. I plan at least a year out. Sometimes two. Just always take these other sites with a grain of salt. One site in particular (I wont mention which one) claimed to have the "official" dates and hours for the parks for that time of the year 10 months prior. When I questioned them about the authenticity they got enraged, claimed inside information, and banned me. No kidding. All I did was ask about the authenticity. I didn't get hateful or condescending. Just asked a question. The mod lost it and booted me. I sat there slack jawed at the incident. LOL Oh well, I don't want to be part of a forum where they are that touchy anyway. However, 4 months later, when Disney officially released the dates, theirs were half wrong and they rushed to change them. Nice inside information they have.

I do still like looking at the proposed dates from sites for pre-planning purposes. I am already attempting to plan out next years trip in case my wife gets her promotion and we have to postpone our trip.... again.

No table services will be open during MNSSHP and not all counter services restaurants stay open as well. You'd have to either make and ADR prior to 7pm for a table service location inside the parks, eat at your desidered CS location before closing time or make do with what is open during the event.

Pr http://www.wdwmagic.com/events/mickeys-not-so-scary-halloween-party.htm the following place are open:
Casey's Corner
Main Street Sweets
Aloha Isle
Pecos Bill
Frontierland Turkey leg
Sleepy Hollow
Pizza Cart
Mrs Potts Cupboard
Cosmic Ray's Starlight Cafe (Cheese burger and chicken only)
The Lunching Pad at Rockettower Plaza
Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies

I'd recommend eating at one of the monorail resorts before heading to the party. Maybe a early dinner at Konna or even Chef Mickey's?

We've always eaten at Liberty Tree Tavern at 6:00pm so we are in the park ahead of the party guests when we are finished eating.

Like others have said, the party dates are posted long before the parties. :)

Checking park hours is helpful. If the park is closing at 7:00, it's a good indication there will be a party that night. But until the official dates are posted, you cannot be 100% sure.

As far as dining goes...

You can enter the park as early as 4:00 with your party ticket. All the restaurants are open from 4:00 to 7:00. The party stuff doesn't begin until 7:00. So, it's easy to come into the MK, eat dinner, not miss anything...all with just your MNSSHP ticket. :D
