MNSSHP... great idea!
MNSSHP on Halloween... less of a great idea!

The party on Halloween is the one that is guaranteed to sell out every year, so the parades, the fireworks, the lines for candy will all be as crowded as they will ever be on any party night. Unless you have to leave really early on the 3rd and don't want a late night before, go to the party on Nov. 2nd. The decorations don't start to come down until after the last party, so it won't be any less Halloween-y in the park, just on the calendar. They always have one party in November; I suspect it's to offer as consolation to people that expect to walk up and buy a ticket to the sold-out-for-a-month 10/31 party. We picked this party in 2010 (it was on the 1st) and it was great: it's not as crowded as the other parties we've been to at different times, and I think the CM's have a little extra jump in their step and are maybe a little looser with the candy since it only has to last the night.

If you do go to a party not on Halloween, you could always try to find some resort trick-or-treating on the 31st. I'd avoid DtD, though. We tried it a few years ago and it was übercrowded (so crowded that there's not even a word for it in the English language). Plus the bus situation from the Contemporary is not the best.

Thanks! That's what I wanted to know. We have gone to a party before, but, not on Halloween. I didn't know if it would be crazy crowded... Maybe we will look into the one after Halloween, we do not fly out until night time on the 3rd. Thanks again!

I've only been once on Halloween, so my memory maybe mixing different visit's but I would say, it's certainly not crowded in the park. Most of the rides are still walk on for most of the night. It's just there are more people than on other MNSSHP nights.

We have done the MNSSHP a total of three times, but only once on Halloween (2010). The party was sold out and was significantly more crowed than the other two experiences.

I think that even though the party sells out, they do cap attendance at a reasonable number. I don't think it's a bad idea.
That's assuming something that's never been promised to my knowledge. There's never any attendance released or Touring Plans even to estimate how many people go on each night. I wouldn't be surprised if Disney sells more tickets for Halloween than other nights, but that's my inner conspiracy theorist talking.

Regardless, I think the important thing to take away is this: I'm not by any stretch saying that you'd have a bad time on Halloween, but you are guaranteeing yourself the worst possible crowds for any MNSSHP by going on Halloween night. It's a negative without a benefit to me, since there are other available dates during the OP's trip.

Maybe things have changed but we did the MNSSHP in 2003 and it happened to be on Halloween night, and I thought it was the worse thing I have every done. We couldn't get around, my daughter and her two cousins got very little trick or treating done and we didn't get to do much of anything. I was terrified that I was going to loose her (she was only 3 at the time) with the amount of the people that were there. We go every year in the summer, and twice during 4th of July week, and I never saw crowds like this.
I came home with a horrible opinion of the party and said I would never do it again. But after talking to many others who have gone on nights other than Halloween it really sounds awesome, and I would love to try it again.
Now, again I did say it was in 2003, so possibly they have changed the attendance level and it is not as bad today. But I can say I will never ever go back on Halloween night. Good luck if you do.

That's a fair point, and one I hadn't really considered. Also, I have no idea how the Fantasyland expansion is affecting the party. We haven't been since before construction started. I know that my favorite trick-or-treat trail, the Alice in Wonderland one that ran between Tomorrowland and Toon Town Fair, was closed last year and I'm guessing will not be back after the expansion is completed. Having a section of the park closed for construction could make other areas that are open during the party more congested.
