I've been thinking a lot about the RoA lately since Disneyland announced they're going to alter it forever next year for Star Wars. Naturally my comparison-loving brain led me to start thinking about whether I liked MK's or DL's better, so I wanted to get everyone's take on which version you prefer.
On one hand you have Disneyland's, which strikes me personally as more "fantasy based", with its New Orleans Square surroundings and Pirates Lair instead of Tom Sawyer Island. It has an aura of aliveness and charm, largely contributed by all the boats, canoes, and rafts that float by throughout the day. How it curves in a wide circle from Frontierland to Critter Country is very majestic, while still remaining quaint with the rest of the park. A trip to Disneyland is never complete for me until I've stood by the water, soaking it all in and taking an unhealthy amount of photos of the ships passing by.
On the other hand you have Magic Kingdom's, the overall tone of which conveys to me a more rustic and lived-in atmosphere. From the water mill in the middle of the river to the riverside boardwalk that runs from Liberty Square to Frontierland, it has an almost peaceful vibe. It also gives off an overall "grounded in reality" feel, supplemented in large part by the historical progression from the colonial era to the old west surrounding it. By far my favorite thing to do in any Disney Park is slowly stroll along the Rivers of America boardwalk after the park closes, taking in all the tranquility and watching the lights reflect off the water.
It's an incredibly close call for me, but if I had to pick one, I'd probably go with Magic Kingdom's RoA. Then again ask me tomorrow and I could tell you I like Disneyland's better, haha! (I may or may not have left in the "change your vote" option for the fickle-minded person I am.
