MK Parking Lot To MK Entrance

Seeing as I've never driven to MK, I have always been a bit curious as to how long it takes to go from the MK parking lot, to the TTC, and to the entrance. Do the trams run a fairly frequent schedule?

The trams run continuously. The longest part will be getting from the TTC to the MK. Can be 10 minutes, if you get on the next ferry or monorail. Could be 30.

As said, the parking lot trams run VERY frequently and that wait for a tram should be short.

However, once you get to the TTC the wait to go from there to the MK entrance could vary widely depending on which method you take (ferry or monorail), and how long the line is for the monorail. I'd guess the entire process could range from 15-20 minutes to as long as 40-50 minutes during heavy crowds at the TTC and/or the monorail being down for maintenance or something as such.

It never seems too terrible IMO. There are a lot of options to get to MK from the lot. I think the time frames listed above are pretty accurate and should give you a great idea of what to expect. Don't be afraid to walk from the parking lot to the TTC if you are in a hurry. I have found that walking can be quicker if timed correctly, based on where you park in the lot and where the next tram is currently, due to the long (and sometimes repeated) playing of the tram's safety message.

Very true about the walking from the parking lot to the TTC. There have been times I decided to walk because it was a straight-shot and on occasion I’ve beaten the tram I would have been on to the TTC…other times the tram beat me.

And yes, one thing that never ceases to amaze me is the lack of civility when it comes to the tram…many people will continue to try to board after a call for “no more boarding” has been made, requiring the replaying of the safety spiel before the tram can continue on. It seems to get worse and worse all of the time.

I remember being at Epcot last year and had to listen to the safety spiel FOUR times during a single stop because people continued to board after no boarding was called. It was shortly after that I decided to ALWAYS walk the Epcot parking lot rather than take the tram.

My wife and I always walk to the TTC from the parking lot, but that is because we have a stroller and a kid; it's too much trouble to have to fold and unfold a stroller for such a short walk.

From the TTC to MK front gate could take you anywhere from 10 minutes to 30 minutes depending on crowd levels. If the line for the monorail is busy, don't think twice about taking the ferry. They typically run two ferrys, they are double deckers and carry a lot of people. There are times where the ferry is quicker than the monorail.

Sorry, can't agree with you on that. The most fun part of going to MK to me, is getting there. The Monorail, for its own uniqueness and the ferry because on a nice day, the 360 degree view, the water, the slowly enlarging image of the Castle are spectacular. To me, without the TTC, there is a huge part of my experience missing by being just dropped off at the bus stop at MK. And there is just as much walking involved with either one.

While I've noticed this too, I think it's not just people being rude. There is a language barrier, and someone who doesn't speak either English or Spanish isn't going to know that they're not supposed to get on. Also, and I've seen this many times, people are talking amongst themselves, getting their group together and under way, and I really believe that they just don't hear the announcement. I wish the tram operators didn't have to play it all over again each time someone new gets on the tram, but thems the rules.

Really? The MOST fun about the MK is getting there? Walking down Main Street, haunted mansion, space mountain. They're all secondary to a ferry or monorail ride which all start off with a hot walk from your car to waiting for tram ride. I am open minded to the "it's the journey not the destination "philosophy, but in this scenario That's the MOST fun huh? You sticking with that story?

Good catch! I didn't phrase that correctly and I apologize, even if you did present it with a snotty superior attitude. OK, let me rephrase my original thought. First, I started going to WDW in 1983 with a limited budget, so combined with, at the time, limited availability of onsite accommodations, Myself, my wife and my kids stayed offsite. I also believe that originally all buses from other onsite resorts went to TTC and not directly to MK. That meant that just about everyone made their initial visits via monorail or ferry. That became a normal part of the visit. Without making that connection, to me, there is a huge gap in the experience. The tram rides were fun, the CM's were cracking jokes, it was time to get absorbed. As we approached MK, the anticipation was built up as we watched the Castle get closer and closer. On a nice day, the lagoon and the scenery was just another plus for the visit.

You may not understand that for whatever reason you have, but, I have never been in such a hurry that I think that the only enjoyment can come from the destination because the journey is, with the proper attitude, just as important. So mock if you must, but, I'll bet I have smelt more of the roses along the way then you can imagine. It is amazing how much of the world passes by as you rush to a target. Your loss, I guess, but, no I'm not saying it was better then the destination, what I said was it is as much a part of the experience for me as any other part of it. To me it's the same as what you might feel if you went to MK and the Castle was gone. To me another comparison is like being dropped of at school in a big yellow bus instead of driving on campus in a Porsche.
