Does anyone know how to go about requesting to try & be the family for the MK Morning Opening Ceremony? I would Love to try to be the family selected on the day of my son's birthday. That would be a Great Surprise for him. :sohappy: :sohappy: Please if anyone has info or can assist with this, you can PM me if you like.

EDIT: I mean to be the family to ride the train from Toontown for the Morning Celebration.

There is no guaranteed way to do it but the best thing to do to increase your chances is to get to MK way early (in the neighborhood of an hour or more before opening) and strike up a friendly conversation with the CM's at one of the two gates. If one of those CM's appears to be a lead or a management type that will be your target. It is also not too taboo to ask if they have chosen a family yet. If you are the typical dad, mom and kids your chances are pretty good.

We were there early for an ADR at CRT. I can't remember the exact time we arrived at the gates, but I know we left our room at the WL at 7:30 and took the bus to the MK.

The line for the people who have ADR's was on the far right as you face the MK. While we were waiting, I noticed a couple of CM's were hanging out by the turnstiles on the far left....the turnstiles that are closest to the gift shop at the entrance.

My husband walked my son over to them, and my son asked one of them if the family that helps Mickey open the park had been chosen yet.

Luckily for us, the family had not been chosen and they asked us to do it.
It was AMAZING!!! I hope you get the chance to do it. It is a once in a lifetime type of experience for a Disney fan!

Having been a lead at the Turnstiles, I can tell you that the best thing to do is be there early. On an EMH morning, the family is picked by 7:30 and a regular morning, it is 8:00. Having said that though, some mornings might be pre-arranged. Don't be afraid to come and ask the cast at the trunstiles. I left the area almost a year ago so things may have changed since then. Also, there isn't a specific type of family we look for. I've seen newly weds selected up to entire families of 8. Once the family is selected, they will get a VIP ride to Mickey's Toontown Fair where they will have the chance to meet Mickey and some of his friends before boarding the Lilly Belle for the trip to Main Street, USA.

I wish you the best of luck. This really is a memorable experience for every family that I have spoken with when I was there. I miss getting to drive the train for the show. Ah....Memories.

Thanks Guys, I figured there was no guaranteed way to do this, but this was exactly the info I was looking for. As I was saying, I hoping to try to make this happen for my Son's birthday this January. We have never traveled to WDW for his birthday. We have taken him there 8 times, but this year he asked if we could do it for his birthday & that would make it so SPECIAL. I am going to think of everything I can to make this the most memorable trip ever. :sohappy:

I would make sure that he is wearing birthday pin that morning.
