I often wonder what these parks are like overnight. I mean around 2-4 am or so on nights when the park closes around 8-9 pm.

I just wonder if it's a bustling place with workers fixing things and cleaning and getting ready for the next day of business.

Any insights? anyone ever worked in there like that?

Is the music on? testing? or is it dark and quiet?

Things that come to mind...
*Power washing the promenade! There's cast members who wash down the streets every night/other night.

*When special events roll around epcot...cast members spend the nights preparing the parks for events. After all, seeing someone do construction during the middle of the day isn't part of the magic, right. I had to work 3rd shift a couple of times and we managed to get A LOT done. Teams of Cast Members managed to set up all the booths and appliances for F&W in two nights. Some cast members would take care of plants and others would take care of Holiday decor (tree, lights of winter...). There was one night when they tested out the speakers. Wasn't much just someone playing the same announcement over and over and over again. Another time I spent the night taking all the F&W booths down.

If you want to see what it's like, just stay in Epcot after 9PM. Stay till everyone's gone and enjoy all the pavilions to yourself. They don't nudge anyone out until 10:30 or so. I think this is one of the best times to be in the parks. It's like you own the place. :animwink:

ive had to close out some of the pavilions at epcot and all i can say is that it is very quiet. Its really kewl when you can walk and its complete silence . At around 10:30 they turn off most of teh ligts that highlight the accents around the park which is kinda kewl as well. Take the suggestion metioned above if you would like to see what it is like.

I think the lights stay on, but all the music and sounds are off, the attractions are off, and Third Shift comes in with the big hoses to wash everything. In the good old days, they'd repaint what was needed, clean windows and stuff, scrape gum off floors and walls and erase graffitti. Don't know if that's still done nowadays, though.

But if Custodials are great, Third Shift is definately AWESOME! :sohappy: Way to go for them!

once we went on tt a little before the park closed, since the ride broke down we had to wait a few hours to get on and by the time we got out everyone was gone. everything looked the same just not crowded

I *had* a friend and his sister was a horticulturist (plants) and she got a job at DisneyWorld taking care of a specific area of the Epcot grounds. She and the others started work on their area at like 4:30 or 5 in the morning if memory serves. Watering and planting, etc...
She hated working at DisneyWorld, by the way and I always wondered why. I think she just didn't like working.

When there's a freeze warning during the winter, they got thier work totally cut out for them. They spend the night gathering all the potted plants and placing them in front of a heater till morning. I remember seeing them do it when I worked one night. Plenty of plants were saved but a lot of the flowers got butcherd from the frost. Signs saying, "Jack Frost paid us a visit, replanting in progress" were all over the place.

Evidently, all the hits that Amazon.com got has caused them to raise the price...it's $189.99 now.

$190 for 190 pages.....................

Imagine if you had to pay $1 per page for EVERYTHING you read!

My USA TODAY would have cost me $98 yesterday!

WOW! I'm assuming included is a guided tour and private dinner with Michael Eisner!....or maybe a 4-day Park Hopper?!?!?!
