EEK!

Eh, I guess it's ok, just more security tents. Which, once again, are better than the white things.

Thanks for those pics. I always look forward to seeing your pic updates.:)

I think for what they are they don't look bad! :) They contain the same green poles that the docks along TSSL use, as well as the Main Steet monorail station. The may contain a tent-like top, but so do all of the docks for the boats/ferries, which are all part of the entrance area. Also, although they look more permanent, they also look like they could be removed if the threat of terrorism/war goes away someday. IMHO, they are MUCH better than the temporary ones they had. Sure they could be really elaborate, but who wants to draw a lot of attention to security checkpoints at the most magical place on earth :)

I am really glad that Disney is taking extra security steps, but unfortunately, a bag check really isn't that effective in catching anything but the most obvious weapons. A great deal of stuff could easily be brought in on ones person, the linings of a bag, or many other various places.

They have no easy job trying to deal with security at a place as large and with as many guests as WDW. I do not envy them! But truthfully, I think the whole process is meant more to provide peace of mind than it is to be effective. Coming from a background where I deal with this type of stuff a lot, I can sympathize because they have a real tricky balancing act.

They have to do their best to catch everything without offending people or making them feel like they are going into a dangerous place (or a prison). However, they also have to be thorough enough to prevent any incident from happening (which would be catastrophic to attendance).

I give them two thumbs up for the effort and wish them the best of luck. Hopefully the new permanent structures will help keep things organized on the front lines.

I'll bet there is quite a security program in place behind the scenes as well, which is where all of the hard work is usually done!

Well said, strobe! I don't mind being delayed by bag searches, even though I feel that they probably wouldn't be a deterrent to anyone who seriously wanted to cause a problem. However, I have read elsewhere on this site that a LOT of strange stuff shows up in those bag searches - and we're better off WITH them than without them!

Seriously though...

The full body cavity search before getting on "It's a Small World" is where I draw the line..........

I really don't know the specifics - I just remember a Cast Member replying to a thread about security, saying that all kinds of strange stuff turned up in those bag searches! I didn't ask any questions...:(

Well all the bag searches will probably end soon after we all cool off from the War and Terror alert. Hey before 9/11 who knows how many days we were in "Red Alert". Does Knowing about it really change anything. Like when the USS Cole was bombed we would have been on "HIGH ALERT" but how many people really flinched or thought that we were the next target. Personaly i give it 2 years at the most provided nothing big happens.
