Hey all...

I don't get to the parks as often as some, because I live two hours away, but I noticed some things over the weekend that I thought needed to be posted. I'm going to give my trip report here, with the news included. Enjoy!

Well, I started off my day around 8:15. I had to work Saturday, so as soon as I got off I left and went to All Star Sports to check in. I thought this would only take 5-10 minutes. Nope. Never at the All Stars can you check in in 5-10 minutes. At 8:15 at night, it took 45 minutes just to get to the desk. So around 9:00 I headed out to go to the Magic Kingdom. Using my charm, I sneaked a parking place at Contemorary (they actually just waved me through with the parking permit from my hotel). Walked over to MK, and went to get my Skippy stuffed animal, which has found a new home atop my computer desk.

After I got my AE stuff, I headed to the train station through backstage (which I have never had the chance to do in 15 years). Got a spot to watch Wishes around 9:40 under the station, because a bunch of drunk 'VIPs' had reserved the upper deck. When the 5 minute announcement came on I noticed something was wrong. The announcement was barely audible, but I didn't think it would be the same way for the show. I enjoyed Wishes, but I only got to hear the last three minutes or so of the show because of some type of audio problem. I won't bore you with Wishes info, because there is plenty of that going around. Went and saw Philharmagic a couple of times, which was also great.

Started out Sunday by going to the Studios. I'm not a soap fan, except for Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) from AMC (b/__ she's freaking hott), but my mom is. So I waited in line for 1 1/2 hours for a fastpass just to see one person. After that I rode RnRC, ToT, and checked out the HM set, which comes close to being a waste of 20 minutes.

Now for my news... The arch which has gloriously stood at the end of New York Street for so many years is gone! I was so upset when I was walking by the HISTK playground and looked over and didn't see it. I'm sending Steve the pics, so look for them, but it is gone. Very sad, to me. That was my favorite thing on NY Street.

As for those of you who care about the Super Soaps Weekend:
This year SUCKED. I'm not even a fan, and I only wanted one picture, but I still had to wait 2 1/2 hours for a picture. They made you go to a Fastpass Distribution at WWTBAM, ST, or IJ, and from there you had to wait an hour at the LEAST when the park first opened, then you had to wait in line to see the person. NOT a good system at all. I'm going to send an e-mail and complain on this one. For the soap fans out there this system is horrible. You got to see two, maybe three people in one day, because you could only get one Fastpass for each time you waited in the line.

Sorry this thing got so lengthy, but some of the time when I get typing, I can't seem to stop. :lookaroun :)

WOW! I am surprised the arch is gone. I always thought it was pretty neat too. I know they are completely re-doing the NYS backlot to a "big city street", but I didn't think they would remove that arch. I guess the change over there is a little bigger than I thought. I suppose the arch was just a facade type structure too, but it looked more permanent than that and I would have thought it would have had to be dismantled in stages to be removed. I'm surprised no one saw it going before today.

I wonder if its gone for good or are they moving it? I guess for better traffic flow to the new stunt show the arch had to go.

Thanks for the update! :)

It's completely gone... The whole area is just dirt now. I have a pic of it, but I don't have room in my photo album, so I'm going to send them to Steve.

Let's speculate about the arch:
- Maybe they are renovating it somewhere else. I honestly didn't think they could move the arch that easily, but I could be wrong.
- Maybe it will be replaced with something new altogether. Maybe a statue or a different arch or maybe a huge fountain. Who knows...
- Since the new Auto Stunt Show is nearby, this area could very well be part of the new show. Maybe a shop, food area, extended queue area, etc.
- Finally, it could be part of another city street. Being installed on that stretch.

My guess is that the arch is gone for good, because the surrounding area is just dirt now. I think that we will still see a circle at the end of NY Street, and that this won't become part of the new show, because construction has already started on the one building. There are areas on the bottom of the building that look like garages, with windows on the top. That's the best I can describe it. But as far as the arch goes, I think it's gone for good. That is part of the New York theme, and since this is becoming a group of city streets, it only makes sense to get rid of the New York theming at the end of the street.

The Arch would ruin the Chicago and San Francisco themes at the other end of the street. So if you look one way on the street, it will be Chicago, and the other way New York.
