Here's a quote from Eisner in a recent letter to shareholders and cast members.

"Further down the road, in 2003, we will be unveiling Mission: Space, sponsored by Compaq. For the price of admission to Epcot, this amazing ``E ticket'' attraction will allow guests to experience what it's like to travel beyond earth's gravitational pull. Considering that, in 2001, Dennis Tito spent $20 million for a similar outer space experience, our guests will be getting quite a bargain! I rode it in test phase. No comment other than to say I'm still walking!"

Thats exactly what I am talking about...this is the most hyped up ride in Disney History..even ToT and RnR got far less "buildup" than this....Eisner is a smart man (keep your comments to yourself) and knows a winner when he sees it....remember..he hated the orginal Alien Encounter as well as JIYI....

You are right there.. it is being heavily hyped - its like they really do know something we dont about how good this is.

Eddie Sotto, the WDI guy who worked the think tank concept for Space has also been saying how much he is looking forward to riding the finished article.

Another year to wait! :)

The original AE was light humored, and had far more dialog. I didnt actualy get to see it - so I dont know any specifics. Phil Hartman was the comical voice of SIR.

He just felt it didnt fit in too well with the "theme" of the situation...

Soo...he told them to re-do it...once they did..and he rode it again... for lack of a better word..he basically said "It scared the crap out of him" (not his exact words but thats what he implyed)..and thats the verson we see today...

I also never had a chance to ride it in its original form...but I think it wouldnt work as a "funny" attraction...

I hear MS is a simulator that flips you up side down and stuff. A military training simulator but isn't that a better version of the ones at Disney Quest???? So it seems to me they already have the mission space ride considering you can build a space roller coaster. Again I havn't heard too much about the ride though except parts of the plot.

I wouldn't mind "designing your own coaster", but the ride system better be a WHOLE lot better...I mean a WHOLE lot

Weeeeelll..not exactly

It is a more "compact" simulator complete with a centerfuge system....basically it would give you G-force that you cant get on any other type of simulator....

Original AE

As I recall, the sound quality was upgraded from the original AE. They redid the seat/speakers, added more sensory effects, added effects overhead and as mentioned before, replaced lighter moments with more tense dialog.
