Mission Space vs. Shuttle Lunch Experience

Hello,

Details about the new Shuttle Lunch Experience online are very vague. I'm mostly wondering which provides a more realistic launch feeling. Is Mission Space better with simulating g forces?

If someone could compare these two attractions I'd love to hear about it.

I was very underwhelmed by the Shuttle Launch Experience. You sit in a room sort of like Star Tours and they tip you back as you "take off" and watch the simulation on the screen.

But Kennedy Space Center does have many cool things to see. It's worth visiting, but not just for that ride.

Mission: Space uses the actual G-forces to get you feeling the launch, while The Shuttle Launch Experience uses pads in the back of the seat to make you feel the effects. It's not the most intense thing in the world, but it's still pretty cool. I will say that the pre-show in The Shuttle Launch Experience is better than Mission: Space, as far as the pre-flight briefing room. If you're debating about whether or not to give it a try, I say go for it. Kennedy Space Center has many great things apart from just the SLE.

hmm, Shuttle "Lunch" experience vs. Mission Space "Lose your Lunch" experience then?

(sorry, noticed the typo, couldn't help it) :animwink:

Underwhelmed is exactly the phrase I would use. There is a lot of very cool stuff at KSC but for the all the hype, I expected I whole lot more out of this one. I thought the best part of the ride was the history walk that is part of the exit.

No comparison in my opinion, rode both this year and although SLE was good in that it was very factual and informative, Mission Space is much more intense.

Both are very good though and I really really like the preshow for shuttle launch experiance.

I like Mission: SPACE, but it has more of a "ride" feel. You know? Something goes wrong? Watch out for that bottomless cliff that's put right at the end of the runway? Plus it's supposed to be themed as a "simulation" but once you enter the capsule, that theme is dropped, leaving it to look like the training angle was just an exscuse for not hiding the simulator. Where as SLE keeps that theme going throughout the ride, while hiding the simulator as well. Plus the ride dosen't have any gimmicks. It's what a launch is like on the Space Shuttle. The film is very well done, and the effects and motion are quite exciting. Plus, unlike EPCOT's, it mixes education and thrill. Sadly, Mission: SPACE features pretty much NO attempt at education. Therefore, in all honesty, I think SLE is the better of the two. Mission: SPACE is a great ride, and while the g-forces are amazing, SLE makes up for it in ride time, education, and the fact that nearly everyone can ride it an enjoy it. SLE is worth seeing!

I've been to a shuttle launch and i've been on mission space. M:S nearly resulted in vomiting while a shuttle launch was living at the mercy of mother nature and NASA for a week before 30 seconds of sheer exuberence and great photos from 3 miles away.

I'm sure Mission: Space is better as far as forces are concerned but the film is so dull that I wouldn't be surprised if I enjoyed the KSC simulator better. I don't know when I'll be back over there to try it though.

The poster wasn't talking about watching actual launches, but rather the new attraction at Kennedy Space Center that's supposed to simulate what it feels like to be an astronaut during a launch.

Though watching a real launch IS quite awesome. Especially if you're lucky enough to catch a night launch!
