Mission Space refurb??

Quick question for all the folks that visit the World more than my 3-4 times a year... I read on here a month or so ago about Mars in front of Mission Space being covered and being worked on... Is this complete? I know over the last few years it has looked really bad with the fading... Does anyone have a pic...

Also, Do they ever actually take the ride down and refurb it?? I can only assume it could use some paint!

When I was there in January they started working on the Mars part of the building and they had a cover over it...I saw these as they were taken about a month
ago..http://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions...2013-mission-space-exterior-refurbishment.htm.

IMO if they want more ridership they could at least go to other planets now instead of Mars...Make it a bit more interesting as it's just really lagging in what it used to be..

Thanks!

I don't see why they cant make the ride like Star Tours or ToT with is being completely randomized... They could easily add planets along that top silver swirl on the outside as well.. That would be FUN!

That's actually a really good idea. I mean, they can do it with Star Tours. Can't they do it with Mission: Space too?

Not that I actually enjoy Mission: Space. It needs a refurb. When I went in January, I was coerced into riding it and my screen kept flicking off, and I got really motion sick. Never. Again.

They can replace it with something else for all I care. I'm not willing to go on the more intense one because I've heard too many stories about how the rest of the day was miserable afterwards. And the less intense is just sad and very lame.

I'm with you on this one. Never rode Mission SPACE, and have no desire to.

Refurb it to look like this....

Stop living in the past. Horizons is dead and done. It's on the donezo list.

Too the person who said they wouldn't ride the more intense version maybe try it after hours as the park is gonna close, then at least if your day is ruined its not ruined for long.

Yup no doubt horizons was fun, but its gone for good now nothing remains. After a while mission space will close its doors as well. No use in every mission space thread saying bring back horizons

I wonder if Epcot would ever see a multi-billion dollar revamp in the next 10 years?? The park is 30+ years old.. One would think they would want to spruce it up a bit. That park has a lot of empty space...

I got to go to all the great stuff of EPCOT CENTER in 1985 thru 1991. I rode all of the attractions and in '85 I was 23 yo. And that was the best trip in my life. Everything was new and exciting. My 1st trip to WDW was in 1982. It's my 1st big trip all by myself. I saved for many years and I was a kid in heaven. I went in June of that yr. and got to see Epcot near the completion of the building of it. I was amazed by it and knew I was coming back again. The poster said he was 3 when he saw it. Great time for a kid to be . When I saw EPCOT CENTER I had just started my dream job in Television Broadcasting and the Space Shuttle program has just be operating for 4 yrs. . EPCOT CENTER was for me giving me hope for or future. If I was the sole owner of WALT DISNEY WORLD and had unlimited amounts of money I would change so many things back to what was inspirational. I still love EPCOT CENTER. But it has grown stale and unimaginative to me now. The living seas was so beautiful when it 1st opened and now it looks like a dirty home aquarium. And For me I rode Mission Space when it 1st opened and I ended up in Celebration Hospital with a possible heart attack. Can't do that ride now. But sure glad I did get to ride it once. But Epcot and WDW were the best in the 80's and early 90's they should have stopped at building after the studios and kept the money they spent on AK and added to the studios and be able to add and keep up what to me was a wonderful experience to me . The MK,EPCOT CENTER and The STUDIOS. AK was a waste of time and every time I see Joe Rhode. I wonder how he got or even got to be involved in that . I was in Hawaii last yr. and stay at a 5 star Marriott . Just a walk away from Aulani. I went over to look around and I was not impressed with it at all. I loved the architecture of the building. But it reminded me of some of the hotel on Hotel blvd in LBV in '82 . Had been there since opening and need a refurbishment . And Aulani was just open for about a yr. Went to the gift shop and they were already discounting the merchandise they were selling. Disney My Disney where have you gone. You left all of us older but young at heart they got you where you are today behind
