This is the first time I'm going to be staying at a value resort (Pop Century in March). I'm used to the moderate resorts like Dixie Landings and Caribbean Islands. Will alot of the convenience I am used to with the value resorts such as multiple bus stops and towels servieces at the pool? What other conveniences will I be missing at Pop century and does it seem wierd without them?

But does it take longer to actually get onto a bus since there is only one bus stop? And what other conveniences will I be missing out on while staying at Pop Century or don't you even notice?

Actually...Pop Century has a few perks that you cant get at any other resort. Such as great food, Unlimited Slushies, And an AWESOME arcade (which is almost like a small Chuck E Cheeses, with the ticket set-up). They also have a dry playground, and 2 water play areas.

Now for the adults, The entire backside of the resort is by the lake, so if you liked the "lake walk" aspect of CB you'll love Pop Century. Not to mention, every building is very close to the main building. You dont gotta walk anymore then 10 minutes to get there. Not to mention, the lobby is full of great stuff from the 1950's-1990's. Some of the stuff is SO surprising, especially the magizines with pictures from WDW's opening year. Everything looked so different.

Now for the busses...I have been to Pop Century like, 8 or 9 times, and never have the busses been busy enough that I had to stand, or I never have waited for a bus for longer then 20 minutes.

You should most definatley try it out. :D

i have never had to wait very long for a bus at a value resort in all the times I have been but I have had a few considerable waits at deluxe resorts (only a couple times tho) the idea that value resorts have worse transportation is a myth imo

Ok we are debating between Movies & PC. Now the kids are interested in the unlimited slushies, do they have a slushie machine that you can use when you buy a resort mug? Any other differences? We like the food courts at the other 3 all stars for ease of use, variety etc. family friendly. Will we find the PC to be about the same? Thanks

We are planning a trip for October and have stayed in the All Stars on our last three visits but want to stay at Pop Centurey this time.

I read on another Disney web page that the A/C units in the Pop Century rooms are motion activated. During long periods of no movement the system shuts down. This seemed to pose a problem during the night when trying to sleep and the room got stuffy. Another writer thought that you might be able to deactivate the motion detector so you could manually operate the system.

Anyone stayed there and had any problems with this?

Won't stay there again.

Hi all. Stayed at PC over the Xmas - New Year break.

Unimpressed. Won't stay there again. :hurl:

Here the info.... now you decide.

BAD:

1) Was Noticably louder in the rooms that at ANY of the other All stars. I would assume "Thinner construction". Appears that the Ceilings were wallboard, and possibly not concerete... anyone else notice this?

2) Disney forgot of this resort over the holiday. Could not return to the resort from EPCOT via car. ALL ROAD intersection to PC were blocked (prohibited from turning). Had to go around ,too 2 Hours (Not a typo - 2 ) to get back from the Park! The security guards at the intersections simply did not care. You should have seen the bus line.

3) Buses... forget about it. Have experienced POOR bus service at all the allstars during "peak" times, Pop Century FEELS farther, and if in traffic, is much farther on crowded roads to get back. Will give you that it Might NOT be a factor in off seasons.

4) While making the layout "closer" to walk to the main building, this means making the buildings close to each other, closer to the pools, and raises the noise level at night, not to mention #1 above.

Good:

1) Much better food and dinning layout. Actually had a "Good" meal there. Never had one at ANY of ther allstars.... and we have tried. This goes alond with the Shops, which are more directly attached to the Dining area. Better impelentation for the 40 minutes over the trip we were in there.

2) New. The allstars tend to get beat up due to the price. a Newer resort shows less ware. Hint: Take a close look at the wallpaper in the bathroom, that will tell you.

Vacationer beware.... If you don't mind above, you'll enjoy. But for those of us who stay at the parks (Open till close), it was the Noisest (sp?) Disney property we've stayed at when compared to the exact times (Xmas, NY, and 4th) at other Allstar (and Mid priced) resorts.
