Well, after a 6 week drought I FINALLY made it to DL and I has an entire day to myself - not a hit and run as many of my trips seem to be lately.
HOT! OK, Dang HOT! Not miserable but easy could have been if one stood in line in the sun. I rode Columbia one time and as the ship moved I followed the shade of the sail aal over the deck. So hot that the cement in front to ther castle was still hot before Imagine (not warm, hot.) Ok, I think you get the picture.
Crowds were not that bad, for the middle of July. In the afternoon Pirates and HM were at 30 minutes. Indy was around 90. Splash hovered around 90 until it broke down around 3:00; once back up the ride hit 120. Peter Pan was at 45. Matterhorn was around 25. Pooh actually made it to 15 BEFORE Splash broke down.
The park in general looked good, but I was surprised by some obvious wear. The side of the Columbia was really looking awful. Back by BTMRR exit there is the coal cart and tracks that go into a cave on the 'Saywer' side of the path. A big chunk of that cave entrance is missing and you can see the 2x4 supports. And something needs to be done for the Dark Rides - a lot of trash piling up all over the place inside Snow and Pinnocchio.
I had my traditional lunch at Bengal BBQ (2 Banyun, 1 Bengal) and eat it at the Riverboat Terrace right by PotC. For dinner I ate at Zocalo. The fish tacos were quite yummy!
As reported many FP changes were underway. Pirates and HM were both closed off. Star Tours and Winnie were still operating. I am not sure why, Pooh was 15 at max on Monday; not sure about ST during the day but at 8:00 it was 10 min. Pirates and HM did not suffer from the lack of FP. The only problem is that Pirates needs to work on the queue a little more - at the height of the day both sides were open, the line went past the tunnel, and zig zagged and blocked off 1/2 of the area in front of the Rivers. (They need to get rid of the machines and get that space back pronto.)
I was trying to add footage to my collection for my video productions. In that regars, I had an awesome day:
IAJ - 2
Aladdin Story Time - 1
Tiki Room - 1 (soft corner seat in the heat of the day with a Dole Whip in hand)
NOS General - for a mini documentary I am making
Pirates - 1
HM - 2 (both elevators were running)
Splash - 3 (single rider pass - the only way to go)
Pooh - 2 (2 trips and didn't throw up once
)
Snow White Scary - 4 (the cue needs ventilation BADLY)
Pinnocchio - 4 (the cue needs ventilation BADLY)
Mark Twain - 2
Columbia - 1
Parade of the Stars - 1 (and glad to say the last one I needed)
Great Moments w/Lincoln - 1
Imagine - 1
This was my first trip to the Park since Imagine replaced Believe. I thought the new show was excellent. I loved the music. There was some new ways of handling fireworks. One cute part was during Circle of Life. Believe is very beloved in many of our hearts because it elevated the Fireworks to a whole new level. It is hard to follow an act like that one but Imagine did a great job. I will look forward to seeing it many times until it is replaced a year from now. The only down part was the scafolding all over the face of the Castle.
One general comment; I ran into so many great CMs yesterday. Polite and chatty was the hallmark for the day. And many kept their cool in high heat despite idiot people who deserved to be...well - I'll let you fill in the blank there.
So, before I ramble on too much, I shall end. Feel free to question away.
